Lavon Alston WR is tripping to WSU this weekend. As i see it ,he is one of the premier WR s in the West. He had an in home visit on Jan 15 from OSU coaches, where he had previously committed. He also had a late offer from Nebraska. If the cougs can land him it would be a major recruiting victory for Leach and company.

Needs to work on catching the ball, but he's burner who could be an impact player a few years down the line.

If he commits ,he will see playing time right away. Somehow people think that so called possession receivers are more ready than the burners to play. Alston is better right now now then the Bartelone or Cracraft who made some big drops during the season. He would stretch the field and open thing up all over the field.

I disagree. Bartelone has not played in two years, so Alston is perhaps better than him. But no, I disagree that he is better than Cracraft. If not for his injury, Cracraft would have had over a 100 catch season. He is special. In fact, I think the Cougar staff has commit Green rated higher than Alston.

I guess that we have our own opinions based on a variety of things. Alston is rated a 4 star by the other scouting service. Cracraft is OK but does not merit special attention by the opposition. Green looks good as well and i would love to see the combo of Green and Alston on the field at the same time.

That is fine. Despite WSU have an experienced and deep receiver corps, Cracraft started as a true freshman and true sophomore. I know you like the speed guys, but the greatest WR's in NFL history, guys like Jerry Rice, Steve Largent, Art Monk, Chris Carter, etc., were not speed guys.

Calvin Green and Robert Lewis are both speed guys, yet it is Cracraft that starts and plays the majority of the time.

You and I just disagree on this, but as we both believe, that is OK.

Elsie, are you high? Cracraft is an amazing 3rd down/possession receiver. But since you don't think so, well, we must all be fools. Do you even watch the games? My guess would be no.

There were a lot of games when the cougs could not move the ball and the receivers were not getting open. The better DB s in the league kept Cracraft in tow without much of a problem. The PAC 12 had a lot of great receivers and Mayle was the best of the cougs. The defense was not the only reason the cougs did not have a winning record. The receiver recruiting has been upped a notch or two and these receivers need to start seeing the field.

You and I will just have to disagree on this one.
In order;
Sept 20 against Oregon 8 catches for 107 yards
Sept 27 against Utah 8 for 126
Oct 4 against Cal 11 for 172
Oct 13 against Stanford 14 for 100
He is injured early in the next game against Arizona and catches a total of 9 passes the rest of the year. Sorry, but three of the best defenses in the Pac 12, Oregon, Utah and Stanford, Cracraft torched.

Agreed, you can't argue with his production..... trying to do so is laughable.

Cracraft is a stud. One of the better tacticians of his craft in the pac. He will play on Sunday's and will be a bigger version of Welker in the slot. Not sure what you were watching El. While Mayle was the most physically imposing WR it was pretty clear Cracraft was the most reliable. Connor went to him time and time again in 3rd down with quite a bit of success.

Love Cracraft, but not sure about him playing on Sunday's. Guys like Welker and Edelman are amazingly quick off the line and out of their cuts.

If Doug Baldwin can play on Sunday, Cracraft can.

As mentioned, Cracraft is the best route runner on the team and one of the best in the conference. WR is one of the strengths of this team and Cracraft is one of the strengths of the WR unit. Leach certainly understands as do most Cougar fans.

El C....it's possible for receivers to get open even if they don't have blazing speed. Your criticism of Cracraft curiously reminds me of your stubborn criticism of Hawkinson on the basketball team and the way you used to be critical of Taylor Rochestie as a point guard. (I remember you heralding the recruitment of Reggie Moore and how he was going to be so much better at point than Rochestie). Yes, I know this is a football forum, but the way you pick out certain guys and minimize their abilities/production is curious and makes me wonder what's really behind all of it.

Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Glad Cougar

Not trying to nix Cracraft, but playing WR in the NFL is such a crapshoot. Virtually every college team, all the way through the FCS ranks, has a stud WR. The ability to stay healthy is obviously something you have to demonstrate if you're an undersized guy, and Cracraft hasn't shown that yet.

Welker is considered "slow" at a 4.65.

You're right though - he has to stay healthy; but, overall, I think he has a good of a chance as anyone else.

FFA raft is a really good receiver. That said, he & this receiving corp really need to improve on the dropped balls. and I mean well thrown balls that would have extended drives and probably would have won extra games. there were far to many. CDA raft had a few critical drops.
