Probably not. It would likely fail, and would be a bad look for any teams we were considering adding to the conference.
This ship probably sailed quickly, but I’d wondered about trying to gum up the works - make UCLA an offer and try to lure them to stay as the only PAC-12 team in SoCal. Then make runs at Oklahoma state, Kansas, Baylor, UNLV, and Texas Tech. Doesn’t really improve us in football, but strengthens basketball (mens and womens), and gives us a toehold in the Texas market. UNLV doesn’t bring much to the table athletically, but actually makes Vegas ours. And if it worked, maybe it blows up USC’s defection and they get nothing.
