Ken Wilson leaving might not be a bad thing.

The frosh #82 seems promising and Woods is solid. But good lord, there has been little to no positive development at that position for years now. Our back-ups are once Walk-Ons yet again and it's been that way for 3 years starting with the Bulldog being forced into LB action that Colorado loss down in Boulder.

Hopefully Roc Bellantoni can bring in some talent from the East Coast connections.

I thought Fa'avae Fa'avae, Dominick Silvels, and Cole Dubots were showing a lot of promise at LB, but position changes and a suspension have come into play. Kotoanga and Naulu are talented frosh but will likely redshirt.

Feels like Fa'avae outgrew the middle position. Sherman isn't the answer and hasn't been. The depth at LB seems to be very little each year.

The whole defense has been uninspiring. The secondary now looks like they forgot how to tackle. Everyone overruns the play. Lots of guys diving at ankles, or throwing out their arm to make a tackle.

I guess on the positive side there has been a big dip in pass interference.

I don't think they need to hit the East Coast to find linebackers. There are plenty of kids on the West Coast. They need to get guys into the program, grow them, keep them, develop them into ball players.

Need to find hs rbs and wrs who can run, bulk them up and turn them into linebackers. Not many 4.5 or 4.6 hs linebackers. I'm not sure they shouldn't move Skyler back to safety and move Isom or somebody else that can blitz better to nickel. Brown needs to play now!! Need more speed in the back 7.

Hopefully Silvels comes back. We need his physicality at RUSH. Taylor and Stone are good pass rushers, but we need someone who can set the edge.

It’s way, way too early to jump to any conclusions, but one theory that’ll start gaining traction if the defense doesn’t improve will be that perhaps we’re seeing a post Grinch drop off.

The try hards are higher up the depth chart because of experience and familiarity with the competition in practice. I can see someone like Hank Pladson or Dillon Sherman outplaying Travion Brown in practice because they are familiar with defending the Air Raid. But throw in an opponent all three only have the week to prepare for and Brown easily outperforms Pladson and looks on par with Sherman.

I really doubt that.

Hardly. The defense has not started stunting yet. We never stunted in scrimmages. We played technique. I think they played the first two games as though they were scrimmages. The stunting will start when needed. No Grinch drop off. The current DC is better.

What about the Hawaiian lb, he was pretty highly touted and recruited
With brown and Katanga we have some good young lbs

Peni Naulu, Ron stone jr, rocky kotoanga, and brown

That's four good young linebackers better than we've had in a long time imo.

Kotoanga at 240 as a freshman might end up playing with his hand down next year. Or at least as rush. Pat Nunn is big and moves well. Maybe put him at linebacker.

The kid from Ohio was exactly this. I hope he gets everything fixed up, wrapped up, loaded up and gets to Pullman ASAP!! He is needed on campus right now.

Linebackers look concerning, but the defense in general does. I hope it's just technique issues and not having the bodies. From my eyes it looked like players just being out of position and not following their roles. Reading what McDougle said it seems that is what they are doing When players were in position, they just couldn't make the tackle. That's gonna have to get fixed ASAP. I think the defense will improve over time, but we don't have much time to do it. We need to get the best players on the field and Brown can play, so I expect him to start getting a lot more reps with the 1's.

Hey, the offense looks dope.

I haven't seen enough of kotoanga to know, he was a safety so iassume he can run, but is weight gain all lean mass, is he still fast ? i
