He’s making a million more than jimmy lake.

Tells me he’s either insecure (and wants validation) or he’s shopping for a better job.

He’s losing my support that he’s all in on WSU.

To add. How in the hell are you going to convince kids to come play for you if you’ve interviewed for 2 sec jobs in 2 months

This is the reasoning behind how the TT administration began to think about Leach. They ended up pushing him out and they have never been the same since.

Leach has always been willing to talk with anyone. It is what it is. He's never left a head coaching job voluntarily in almost 20 years.

Yeah, I hate always seeming like his PR agent or something -- he's not perfect -- but his view on this is pretty simple ... he's willing to talk to anyone, really, just to see what they have to say. To him (and objectively), to do otherwise just doesn't make any sense.

I don't care about him making us all warm and fuzzy, but I do wish he'd instead refuse these for recruiting purposes. It's explainable and meaningless when considering that he's never left a head coaching job voluntarily in 20 years, but I agree that the look isn't great.

Great coach, we are lucky to have him. But it is all business for Mike Leach. Don't imbue him with qualities he does not have. Love of Pullman/WSU? Please, he is in the Keys as we speak. If he were a sentimental guy, it is doubtful he would be as successful as he is.

I was in the Keys about a month ago snorkeling and on the beach. Still wish I was there and would like to go back later this year.

D1 football coaches are carpet-bagging mercenaries looking for their next contract extension or payday. It's big boy business.

Feigning emotional ties is part of the gig that keeps the fans/donors on the snide.

Just assume they are always on the way out and it's a lot more tolerable when they actually hit the exit door.

Devil's advocate....the optics on recruiting are;
1. He's "interviewed" with Arkansas, Miss St and Tennessee. Oddly, he hasn't publicly interviewed with any other conference, despite their being openings.
2. Any smart coach recruiting against us is going to say to a QB prospect, you might not be playing for Leach. He wants to go to the SEC. He's been shopping for a new job. See these press clippings.

We can say what we want about Leach -- and i don't want him to leave and support him 100% -- but i personally don't like the look that he continues to flirt with the SEC....but maybe any coach would. Not sure.

Totally agree with your post. Leach likes to be wined and dined, and flirt with other opportunities. There are pros and cons with Mississippi State and Washington State, but will be surprised if he jumps.

Looks like Leach took the Miss St. job. Now those folks who wanted Leach out of here can get what they wanted.
