Ok, WTH? This is SDSU's basketball arena and it was a watch party? And students stormed the place because it was too full? This is nuts. I looked it up and read the news reports. At least they are passionate. But Geezus.
And yeah, this is not a good look for SDSU and the Pac-12 potential offer. But then we aren't exactly lily white. Remember the riot in 1988, or the Dasani bottle episode after Apple Cup (forget the year) where Babs Hedges "feared for her life"? What a bitch BTW.
One of my years the student section of the bleachers had multiple "Dixie go home" signs when our governor visited. Made the cover of the Chinook (I want to say it was the 77/78 edition, but I could be off a year). Our idea of what constituted bad behavior has evolved over the past 50 years...
What's next? Water cannons? Pepper Spray? Failed at crowd management 101. Clearly unprepared for the level of interest by the fans. By way of understanding, the campus security had never experienced anything like a NCAA final for their team. Probably never even considered contingency planning for this sort of thing. Still, pretty clear leadership failure.
