Looks like we're playing Duke in the Sun Bowl...

Travel to the sun bowel, spend 2k a plane ticket, 18 hrs of travel, watch us lose to northern west institute of Michigan, fry in a desert.

Spend 1k a ticket, fly non stop to Hawaii, watch bowl on TV.

Sun bowel needs to die off.

The Sun Bowl has a decent TV spot and a showing on CBS....that's it.

I'd love to see us push to get a bowl game vs. the SEC.

I've been to the Sun Bowl three times....and hated the gameday experience every time.. My wife made me take her to the 2021 Sun Bowl because she didn't make the other trips. The trip down was fine. We went to Carlsbad Cavern, drove through Guadalupe Mountains National Park and got to see a $20 million Reaper Drone on a flatbed being escorted by almost two dozen state troopers and other support vehicles. Drive back was interesting. Hit White Sands and stayed in Roswell on New Years Eve (no alien sightings...sorry Biggs).

The game itself? 2021 was a lifeless turd in pouring down rain courtesy of traitor JDL. 2015 game? Froze my ass off in the snow? 2001 game? Coldest day of the year and my idiot friend left his ticket in the hotel so we got to drive to the game twice.

I will not ever go again. El Paso blows.

Damn - consensus on a topic. Never been to El Paso, no plans to go there. Agree that we need get the F out of that bowl.

Love El Paso. Would go tomorrow. Hate that the Cougs refuse to show up tho. Coach needs to honor the fans and make sure to show up. The last game was an embarrassment.

You’ve just never fell in love with a Mexican girl in the west Texas town of El Paso.
If I go to El Paso again, I’m looking for Rosa’s cantina. I need to see this girl Felina. Although, she’s probably not such a vixen anymore.

El Paso is ok but I really enjoy visiting places such as Alamogordo and Las Cruces. A restaurant in old town las cruces has the best margaritas I have ever had.

Because of having friends and family there, I visit regularly and dig the old cowboy town vibe. Concordia cemetery has some cool old gunfighters graves. The mexican food scene is best in the country. Beer scene is improving. Visiting Juarez (during the day) never disappoints. It’s one of those towns that knows its reputation and owns it. Great arts scene and music. Also, weird thing is until about a year it had almost 0 homeless. They have giant public parks under the 10 fwy downtown without a tent. Blew my mind. Today is a different story tho.

I have a co-worker who is going to El Paso later this year and I did tell her that while I couldn't remember the name of the place, there is a great Mexican place on the east side of El Paso where they have singers walk around while you eat. I went there in 2015 and it was muy autentico. I told her that visiting Juarez is ok, but gringos like me are supposed to stay within a few blocks of the border in the tourist area.

I find that if I approach El Paso with the mindset that it is part of New Mexico, not Texas, I end up closer to the cultural vibe, and since I like New Mexico, that works for me. December is a tough time of year, from a weather standpoint. Might be beautiful; might be snowing with big wind; or anywhere in between. The bowl committee does a pretty good job overall. The locals are friendly to visitors. But I don't even like going to a bowl in San Diego that often, so I would not want to do the Sun more than once every 12-15 years. I would even want to go to San Antonio a bit more often than El Paso.

Sorry to say that it's difficult to get excited for any lower-tier bowl with opt-outs and all the other BS. I doubt I attend another bowl game in person unless it's the Alamo or better. This is coming from a guy who used to be really into even lower-end games.

Don’t disagree with you. I think the approach people need to take to bowls now more than ever is to forget about the game and result on the field and just look at it as an experience to hang out with alumni friends and spend time in a city you have never been to or don’t travel to often. For that reason, I wouldn’t go to the Sun Bowl, San Fran bowl, or LA Bowl. Vegas, Alamo, Holiday all good destinations IMO.

Could be L&J Cafe. Very popular local spot. Next to the cemetery.
