WSU's O Line, WR Corp, DT's, Corner's, RB's, Secondary, John Mateer, etc, are GOOD ENOUGH, that WSU probably will go about 9-3, 8-4, 7-5 at worst, and Mateer being a Redshirt Sophmore, will probably be at WSU next season, and after that Mateer will probably either get drafted into NFL, or goto Michigan, OSU, Alabama, Georgia, collect big NIL, after next season is over.
That's how high John Mateer's ceiling probably is.
Nobody knows what Mateer's ceiling is. I'm excited to see him play because it's always seemed like he had "IT" whenever he was on the field but he's also never been in the game down by 3 with 2:25 to go at our 18 yard line. Until we see how he handles that...it's too early to say anything about the dude.
Starting pitchers, middle relievers, and closers are all different. When you are tapped for the first snap of a 0-0 game not the same as when you get sent out there up or down by 30.
I’m excited for him but we have no idea. He hasn’t taken a single snap in this role.
In related news, Zevi Eckhaus just became the most popular man on the roster.
Kinda feel sorry for Eckhaus, although he probably should have known better. Should have stayed put and finished his career at wherever he was from. Sincerely, Gage Gubrud
With as much as Mateer runs, Eckhaus is going to see some time under center.
Yeah I’ve thought about that too. Mateer will probably lower his shoulder into the wrong linebacker. He’s a pretty beefy QB, his confidence might get him in trouble.
