#9 WSU takes on #8 Arizona State Wed. in the opening game of the P12 Tourney.

Like the Match Up for WSU.

About 53% chance for 1st round win. Especially if Bonton is back, and everybody is healthy.

Wow what a Bracket for WSU.

Already beat Oregon, so can do so again in 2nd round.

And if that happens, and if Ore St beats UCLA, then since beat beavs, can do so again, and even if UCLA, can beat them again.

WSU could easily end up in the Championship game.

But first ASU.

I think we all knew our first round game would be very winnable but our path doesn’t include USC or Colorado till the end . I agree very good bracket for WSU!!

Like our side of the bracket much better than the other side. Oregon is not the Oregon we beat. We will need a near perfect game to have a chance against them. However, if we do get past Oregon we have an excellent shot at the title game.

Ducks are peaking at the right time....very similar to previous years. Nonetheless, I'd love to have a shot at them. It would be great for WSU to play like it did in the opening game last year of the tournament. You never know, but let's start it off by beating the Sun Devils!

Glad Cougar

USC, and Colorado, and Stanford(1st win vs Trees, in like 13 to 27 years), is MUCH harder then ASU, Oregon, Ore St, UCLA.

Yeah sure Oregon will be tougher, but still think WSU matches up well vs Oregon. Remember WSU didnt just barely eke out a win vs Oregon. WSU took Oregon behind the Shed, and Spanked them, blew them out by about 17 points, and lead was up to about 23 to 33 points at one point, if I remember right.

So no it wont take the extreme ultimate perfect game from WSU to beat Oregon, even with Oregon getting tougher.

But not saying it will be a cake walk either. WSU cant have a semi very bad game vs Oregon and win.

But first comes ASU. ASU is easily winnable, but still will be tough, close, and so cant overlook ASU.

The Bracket is as good as it gets for WSU. That said WSU still needs to execute, win, or that supposedly as good as it gets for WSU is, will be meaningless.

I haven’t watched or listened much for a few years. But this embodies all the normal frustrations. Whoever Jaz is should stop taking shots and fouling people. Incredible jump ball too to go from 95% win to down with a few seconds....

Did Noah place $ on the game beforehand? I haven't seen him play so poorly-ever.

Noah had Jackson for what probably would have been an easy flush. So many bad turnovers down the stretch. Brutal.

The play down the stretch is some of the worst and sloppiest ball I have ever seen. It was like our players thought they would get extra points by taking contested shots and dribbling into the defense instead of kicking it out to wide open shooters.

Just piss poor execution...and that is on coaching.

Bush-league move by Smith at the end to punctuate the melt-down. Disappointing.

True. Pretty sure he was extremely frustrated by his players NOT EXECUTING what he was probably saying to do, not do. And frustrated by the MELTDOWN, and SNATCHING DEFEAT from the Jaws of Victory, at the End.

Also Pretty sure he was PISSED OFF at the, according to the announcers, 3,4 BAD CALLS by the BAD REFS.

But your right, its Bush League, to do what he did, and sets a bad example for Noah.

But at least he is PASSIONATE, COMPETITIVE, unlike coaches like BONE.

Some of the blame for the loss is on Kyle Smith the HC, but the kids are extremely young(one of the youngest teams in the entire nation). The kids are going to make mistakes, and occasionally forget, not listen to Kyle Smith, other coaches, and occasionally NOT EXECUTE.

Also Kyle Smith as good as a coach as he is, that recruits well, and has won some IMPRESSIVE games against some IMPRESSIVELY GOOD TEAMS, and USUALLY has good game plans, X's and O's, etc, like any good coach, can have a bad game.

And despite the bad game, WSU almost won, should have won. It could have been A HECK OF A LOT WORSE. Like getting blown out 93 to 50 something, like Bobby Hurly, ASU got blown out by about 93 to 50 by Utah.

I disagree with we should have won.

We should have lost by at least 6 points with all of the possessions we gifted to ASU on a platter down the stretch. ASU basically acted like they had 2 left feet each time we turned the ball over down the stretch.

We were lucky to be in the game at the end,

Didn't deserve to win. 21 turnovers way too much. Can't go downcourt without a shot 21 times.

Not sure how many possessions the Cougs had - but for simplicity sake, let's take the number of FG attempted and add 21 Turnovers. # of possessions is actually less than that given second chance shots but let's go with that for now.

58 plus 21 = 79. 21/79 = 26.5%. Over a quarter of the time, the Cougs didn't get a look at the bucket.

That's like going scoreless for 10 minutes straight. Not good.

Until that changes or is valued, we're gonna see a lot of these kind of losses and it will frustrate us. It cost us the UW game. It cost us both ASU games. It damned near cost us the Stanford game were it not for Noah playing out of his mind. You get much over 14 or 15 turnovers and it turns into a crap shoot. Which is too bad because this squad does a lot of things right. They defend pretty well and are really good rebounders.

But damn if they don't kick the ball all over the court.

That is a lot of turnovers. My feed was giving me issues so I really didn't get to see much except for the last few minutes.

Thing that bothers me is we have kids who can make wide open jumpers...and on two of Noah's drives into the trees, there were kids wide open out on the wings..

But yes, need to learn to value the ball and be smart with the ball. If you don't, you simply aren't going to win.

And your stats played out down the stretch. Too many possessions where we didn't get a shot off.

As a side note. I listened on the radio for the first time in years. Chaz was good just as he is with football, but Ehlo spends half of his sentences with drawn out uhhhhhhhhhhhhs. A whole possession will happen before he stops talking and Chaz is left doing recaps of pasts plays. There’s no way he’s going to continue in that role right? He sounds blazed and confused.

I watched all but the last 50 seconds. What did he do that was bush league??

He Smith got a technical foul for saying something at least semi bad, an or bad language, etc, because he was pissed at both the Refs, and his own, and his players lack of execution, meltdown, snatching defeat from Jaws of Victory, despite both WSU, and ASU both playing bad.

He lost his cool, and set a bad example for Noah.

What he did was, or should be conaidered BUSH LEAGUE.

That said, at least he is usually a good coach that is passionate, and competitive, unlike Ken Bone and some of the other past WSU coaches.

So because of that, what Smith did is easily forgivable, understandable, etc.
