Lead by Frank's double double, 31 pts, 11 rebounds. Elleby 12 pts, 8 assists.
We controled the game quite easily from start to finish. The only reason Nicholls wasn't completely blown out was due to them chucking 3's all night, especially in the 2nd half. They shot 45 3's!!!, making 16.
Player Observations:
Franks looked great. Needs to do a better job on the FT line though.
Elleby was impressive in his first game. His hustle and transition game is incredible. His game reminds me a bit of a young Weaver, and both long/athletic, but he's probably ahead of Weaver at the same point in their career. His outside shot needs some work, but he's good at everything like Weaver was, hustle, movement, passing, rebounding, defense, and the intangibles. He's going to fill up the stat sheet for years like Weaver did. I hope I'm not being too bold by making this statement...
Kunc looked solid and was a good contributor, 6 pts 4 reb. Same for Wade + good passing and hustle, 8 pts 2 reb.
Ali was solid at running point, 5 assists. He took a couple shots that looked awkward, so I'm hoping that gets better.
Chidom was very solid, a lot of hustle and great passing by him. 10 pts, 5 reb, 3 assists, 4 steals, a pretty dang good stat line, especially coming off the bench.
Team Observations:
We are way more athletic than last year.
Our transition game was impressive, especially Elleby, but the other forwards/bigs moved great too.
Passing and ball movement was outstanding. I was really impressed by the passing from our post players.
Only 8 turnovers! I never really had a feeling of any "sloppy playing" throughout the game.
We would have won by 30+ pts if they weren't chucking 3's left and right, especially when they were making a ton of them in the second half.
We had 8 dunks in the game. Last year only 28 total dunks.
Was a really fun game to watch. Too bad the crowd looked incredibly sparse. Those who didn't attend in Pullman definitely missed out on a fun game to watch.
