Mike Hopkins 47,Syracuse assistant coach is the new mutt coach. He has been coach in waiting for seven years for jim Boeheim to retire .It seems udub aimed low but i really do not know much about Hopkins.

Slightly shocked with that decision given they reportedly can offer $2-3 million, good facilities, good to great local talent (although small pool), Seattle, etc. I don't know anything about Hopkins. Maybe it ends up a home run hire but doesn't seem well thought out on the surface.Mike Hopkins 47,Syracuse assistant coach is the new mutt coach. The news blurb said something about him being a builder of programs. I guess he is from the California area and had applied for the OSU job before Tinkle got it. That is all that s out there now.
Sounds like a potentially good hire after taking a look. He was coach-in-waiting but Boheim doesn't seem in any hurry to retire. There is talk Hopkins was involved in some of the mess at Syracuse but is considered a good recruiter and highly disciplined.
Hope he sucks as well.
I was going to post something similar earlier today after finding out a bit more about him. I think it's a really good hire as long as he sticks around. He's definitely ready for his own program, he kept Conroy on the staff for the purge sound, Syracuse recruits nationally, and he knows the game plus he is known as a discipline guy. Sounds like a good fit even if he loses some Seattle kids early they will come back if he starts to win. This is a damn good hire by UW. Low key sneaky good. (Trust me, I hate to give them credit.)
Cougs are already getting out-recruited, but this isn't going to help. Has connections coast to coast and well-regarded by his players.
Syracuse always seemed to under perform under Boeheim. The recruiting was never a problem but the coaching was not super. Boeheim had success but Syracuse is in a recruiting hotbed. Time will tell how good a hire this is.
Correct, was thinking he was a junior.Malik Dime is a very good player. I thought that he is a senior?
Do you think Kent inquires? He obviously would need to sit a year and only would have one to play. I would probably rather the JC with 3 years left. The other possibility is asking him to walk-on for his transfer year. I don't know that we have the juice for that scenario.Dickerson is a nice player. I would rather have him than Dime
