Rob Rang said he's now a late 7th rounder/Priority Free Agent.

Wulff struck Gold with Tuel, Wilson, Cooper, Halliday, Buchanon and simultaneously whiffed on guys like this.

Mike Marboe would have helped WSU at some point over his career if given the chance. All reports are that his work ethic is off the charts. That alone would have helped with culture.

Admitting FULL classes onto campus and into the classroom helps programs like ours to catch some of these "tweener" guys coming out of high school and ensure we have better balance throughout the program over time.

Definitely agree re Marboe. Funny thing is, this is one of the years Wulff actually did take a full class. No room for a 3-star, #19-ranked (on Brand X) in-state center, though. Had to save room for guys like Brandon Golden, Robert Jiles, Tyrone Duckett, Al Lapuaho, and Blair Bomber.

Have to agree on the recruiting of Marboe. But in fairness, every PAC program passed on him in his Sr year, after he was highly rated after his Jr year. Every program had the same opinion. He is yet another kid who looks great in hindsight but didn't look as good in the beginning.

I guess that's the point. Idaho s a D-1 school and they went after him hard. USC, Ohio State, Oregon, etc. filled their dance card with guys with more tangibles coming out of high school. In comparing Marboe to whom we DID Sign, Wulff and staff simply mis-evaluated. It's not as if Marboe grew. He's been 6'1.5" for a long, time. He was a legacy kid who always wanted to be a Cougar.

Water under the bridge at this point but when I heard that interview with Rang, for a moment, I thought it would have been nice to have this kid as a Cougar, that's all.

According to his bio, both his dad and grandfather played for the Vandals. No wonder UI went after him. And looking from that perspective, perhaps UI was a good fit.
