Moos fired Nebraska coach Tim Miles today. If his top choice Fred Hoiberg doesn't agree to take over, he's got his good friend from UO-WSU days now available. I would think Hoiberg already agreed before Moos made the final decision to ax Miles.

Should WSU look at Miles? I've outlined why he might be a good choice in another thread. I'd rather find a younger mid-major guy who is considered more of an up-and-comer, but I would definitely hope WSU reaches out to Miles.

Here's a link to a good article about Miles and what he did at Nebraska. He certainly seems to have a great personality that engaged the Husker fans.

If he hires Kent and pays him at least $1.4 million, WSU would be off the hook.

We can dream....

He wasn't horrible at Nebraska, he wasn't great. He had back to back 20 win seasons, but only one NCAA appearance in 7 years. He rebuilt CSU, did an awesome job at NDSU. His team is ranked 48th in KenPom, which is better than UW. I think Nebraska thinks they are better in basketball than they are. It's a tough conference, they sent 8 teams to the NCAA this year. He'll make WSU competitive. Probably can do a lot worse than Miles.

Do you think Kent had one of those "non-compete" type clauses in his contract? I had not though of that - although he will be lucky to get a job anywhere doing anything. Unless Larry Scott brings him back as an analyst.

Is there such a thing as a "feel free to compete" clause? I am sure we would love if he found another job in coaching that would even partially offset the money we owe him.

No.
