Minshew starting Sunday

Minshew can't catch a fcking break.

At least he'll have a week to get the snaps down. That being said, he probably takes snaps mostly from the backup center, right?

Perfect. I was clamoring for a broken leg for Richardson last week and then modified that to just a broken finger. Concussion is actually the proper play. Minshew will carve them up. That's all I have to say about that

It is an opportunity. Tom Brady was given the same opportunity when Bledsoe went down, and never looked back. But let's not kid ourselves, Minshew must play at the next level. Solid and error free game managing won't cut it. He plays well, he puts great pressure on the franchise as well as Richardson. It is a business after all! You play the QB that gives you the best chance to win.

I was gonna bring up something about Minshew and Brock Purdy. Two went head to head in the Alamo Bowl. Of course Brock was a kid and Minshew was graduating, but I see similar types of QBs with the two of them. Big difference getting into the right situation in the NFL, Minshew has been with shitty teams and hasn’t been given much of an opportunity to be the guy. Brock goes to a stacked team and gets the full support of the staff once they recognize he can play.

Where a guy is drafted should mean nothing.

Considering what he did in that 1 year and how much he meant to the football program WSU should retire his freakin’ number.

I love what Minshew did and he was exactly who we needed in 2018...but he had the benefit of playing against a squishy soft schedule. We only played one FBS team that reached 10 wins and we lost that game. We also lost to 5-7 USC (bad officiating but still...we lost). It was a fun season and I got to see three games in person but gacking in the Apple Cup and losing to a bad USC team disqualifies him from any number retirement talk.

He is definitely one of the Top 20 Cougs all time though. I hope that he plays great this year for the Colts and it lands him a starting job somewhere (hope it's somewhere decent though).

No fair holding the USC game against him. It's hard when its 11 against 22 (once you count the entire officiating crew, the replay booth, Woody and Larry). And then, when it looked like he'd win anyway, they let them start head-butting him.

Yeah what could have been in ‘18. Getting screwed against USC and the weather neutering our offense in the AC. We win that game by two TDs without the snow. We were damn close to being undefeated. Woulda coulda shoulda.

The weather didn't help, but stubbornness is was neutered the offense. We still had Boobie and Borghi, and Lake was dropping 8. We should have treated them like sled dogs and rode them all the way.

It was a combination of both. I think the weather caused the panic then further stupidity ensued. When Minshew threw the first pass I knew we were F’d.

I thought it was the slide, when a dive would have given us 1st and goal. I was yelling NOOO, crap weather is coming.

I welcome you all to join me as the Colts become your first (or second) favorite team. Saying that as a Colt fan since '77. That's all I have to say about that.

I’m a broncos fan so I’m already there brother. Painful to think where my team would be if we’d given up a 6th for Minshew and used all the extra $$ and draft capital to build around him. With the defense we had when that was a possibility we could be the 49ers of the AFC right now. There’s a lot of dumb GMs in the NFL: Patton is near the top of the list.

To be fair, Patton is just continuing the mess Elway made. That roster has been a mess for years on the offense.

Elway won a SB as a GM 🤷. I wasn’t a fan of what he was doing towards the end but Patton has been a shit show. Guessing he’s done after this year and the Walmart team dumps the truck for a proven guy. Based on recent moves I think Payton is in charge and will get his guy in.

Elway fell into a Super Bowl as GM because he rolled the dice on Manning and came up solid for a couple years, before he lost his defense. Everything he's done since then has been wrong.

Actually, he went wrong while Manning was still on the roster. Everyone knew that was a short-term scenario, and the guys he picked as replacements have been mistakes. Including RW.

Agree he didn’t leave them in a great spot but disagree with the rest, he still built that defense that won the Super Bowl. Von was a no brainer. Ware, Ward, Talib, Harris, Stewart, all guys added by Elway. You mentioned manning, the wild thing about that SB run is he was terrible that year and put the defense in a ton of bad situations, but they were so good it didn’t matter. Up there w best defenses of all time. Yeah, to your point when elway walked out the door as GM it wasn’t pretty, but Patton has made it worse.

Yeah, Manning’s 2nd year was pretty bad. His first one was good though.

Yeah, Manning’s 2nd year was pretty bad. His first one was good though.
His only bad year was his last year. His third year they beat Baltimore they win it all. Fluke play they lose div playoff.

2015 broncos defense may have been greatest of all time. Seahawks homers talking bout legion of doom…F off. Manning threw 9 TDs and 17 picks. That was unheard of in this era of pro FB. Any other team would have been 3–13 with that offense, including 2013 hawks. That defense got them home field, busted Brady in the CG and the panthers 15-1 team.

We suck now and have since so yeah I’m clinging to glory days.

KtC, can I ask why you’re a Colts fan?
I find that usually when people are fans of random teams like the Chiefs or the Steelers (Colts) it’s because that team won the Super Bowl when they were between 8-12 and became their team bc of that but the Colts haven’t won it all since Johnny U.

It was pre- Seahawks by one year. Liked the unis. As a 10 year old, that's usually when you get imprinted with your favorite teams that you just can't shake.

Of course, I have no memory of their SB V win vs the cowboys. Those Bert Jones teams were pretty good but just not quite as good as the hated steelers and the raiders. I just wish they were still in Baltimore and playing outside. Taihtsat

We’re about the same age. I was a Dolphins fan for a long time. SBs and Unis
Packers, because they were the closest team and really good when I was that age. Vikings are closer, but, they’re an expansion team. More of a Seahawk fan now.

Interesting theory. Raiders and 49ers won when I was 8-9. Liked Jim Plunkett, thought Joe Montana was about as cool as you could get. Didn't latch onto either team though, somehow I decided I liked the Browns. I watched the AFC Championship and The Drive in a hotel somewhere in eastern Ohio, which established an enduring distaste for the Broncos and hatred for Elway (and rejoiced as he got repeatedly pounded in SBs in 87, 88, and 90). Didn't really pick a team until the peak 49ers years, and stuck with them for a solid decade, until Steve Young hung it up.

Kind of drifted away from NFL after that. I'd watch the SUper Bowl, but in a lot of seasons that's the only game I saw. Watched the rise of the Seahawks as my de facto "home" team, but wasn't invested in it. I'm still really not, although my interest in the NFL has been rising lately as my interest in CFB wanes. Haven't picked a team yet though. Someone needs to give Minshew a starting job so I can have someone to root for.

Funny, I became a broncos fan after the redskins pummeled them in 87. The old AFC west was the best.
