I guess this is 2 day old news, but I hadn't seen it. Raiders to release Minshew. One article said he has $3.16M Guaranteed for 2025. Not a bad firing bonus, if that is what it becomes. Still only 28, I expect someone to pick him up as a backup.

He's likely to become a back-up for the rest of his career. Which is fine, he'll earn decent money and I suspect will enter into the coaching ranks after he finishes playing.
He should be one of the most competent backups in the league. A guy who can go 2-2 or 3-1 when your franchise guy sprains his ankle and is out for a month.
That’s worth $5-6 mill/year probably. Best job in sports outside of pga tour.
and it's been proven (look at Seattle), you need a guy that can step in and win a game or two if QB1 is out. With the longer season, I also think you should make that assumption that you will need your backup to be in at least 2 to 3 games. The Raiders just weren't that good and Pierce seemed in over his head, so this is not all on Minshew.
