I know there is a good Kim Aiken thread, and its good to read that thread before this one.

But I googled, researched Kim Aiken, and found more info on why he is a ELITE DIAMOND player.

I feel, think this info deserves its on thread, and shouldnt be buried in the other thread.

Kim Aiken:

Description:

From watching his videos, seeing his pictures, reading his bio. Stats, etc.

I would say he is a cross between DJ Rodman, and Casto, and if compared to NBA, would be a cross between Dennis Rodman, Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, but with with a more well round offensive game.

Info:

He scored 13.3 ppg, 9.7 rebound per game his Sophmore year. Scored 11 ppg, 10 rebounds per game this year for EWU.

He has 2 years of Eligibility he can play for WSU.

His Bball game:

He can face up, play like a 2,3 spots guard. Handles ball well. Is a slasher, shifty, jukes, breaks ankles, drives, beats others off dribble to create his own shot of either a lay up, dunk, tear dropper, floater, runner, short midranger pull up jumper in lane off of drive.

He is a DEAD EYE SHARPSHOOTER at 3 point range, and a Dead eye mid range jumpshooter.

He can play the 4 spot. Play back to basket in both low and high post.

In high post, he has spin moves, crossovers, to get around defenders and score.

In the low post, he can spin, cross over, up and under, semi baby hook like, semi jump, 1 handed shot where he flings, flips ball up and over and in over defender.

He has a fall away shot in both the low post, high post, fall away mid range jumper, and fall away 3 point shot.

Another thing he can do is:

Remember the play Shawn Kemp made when he drived, slashed to basket, and dunked over, posterized Sam Bowe of Golden State in the play offs for the sonics?

Well Kim Aiken ABSOLUTLY POSTERIZED, DUNKED OVER a Defender, when he got a rebound then went to dunk the put back. When Kim tried to do that, the defender tried to block the shot, and Kim just went right over him and dunked it in his face, a lot like how Shawn Kemp dunked right over Sam Bowe's face when Bowe tried to block Shawn Kemps dunk.

So Kim Aiken is also NBA esque freakishly athletic.

Kim Aiken also Rebounds extremely good. Reminds me of the GLASS EATER Dennis Rodman.

He plays EXTREMELY good defense. Gets a lot of steals.

He also has a lot of assist, does not turn ball over often.

He also gets a lot of loose balls.

He also does a lot of the little things like screens, etc.

He also is a RELENTLESS, TIRELESS, HARDEST WORKER.

He shoots about 80% from the freethrow line.

He has a good, team player attitude, and is a team leader.

He gets along, is likable, doesnt cause or get into trouble, is a fan favorite.

He has, gets a 3.3 GPA, is SMART, has a high IQ on and off the court.

When he is done with bball, he is going to run for either city council, Mayor, and has the connections, is liked enough to win in his hometown.

He wants to be a Senator someday.

He is, was also a leader on EWU's, student conduct board.

He is loved by students, faculty, deans, presidents, professors, teachers, principal's.

He is a christian.

NO WONDER WHY ARIZONA WANTED HIM.

He is already better then DJ Rodman the WSU starter at the 3 spot.

He will probably PLATOON as the starter, #1 back up at the 3 spot.

He will also get time at the 4 and maybe some time at the 2, whatever it takes to squeeze him in, get him some minutes, as he is THAT GOOD.

He should get about 26 to 30 to 33 minutes per game.

Next year, season, after this coming season, he should be the sole starter at the 3 spot.

And dont be surprised if, when he becomes the starter at the 3 spot, by the end of this year, season.

He should also put up about 12.5 to 15 to 17 ppg, 10 rebounds per game.

I wouldn't call him a DEAD EYE SHARPSHOOTER from 3; he shot 30% last year. Carreer 32%. Not dissing the young man, but let's have realistic expectations for him.

Ok. Fair enough. But he has a LOT of MADE 3 point shots. That are in A LOT OF VIDEOS.

And looking at his shots, and shooting mechanics, release, form, made videos, made 3 pointers, etc, IT SURE THE HELL LOOKS LIKE HE IS A DEAD EYE 3 POINT SHOOTER.

Guess looks can be deceiving. Maybe he went on a bad cold streak, and got unlucky. Maybe that got into his head. Maybe thats why his 3 point shooting stats are bad.

But if you watch all his lots of made 3 pointers. You can see the potential, or think he should be a Dead Eye 3 point shooter.

He will probably shoot better.

He is a RELENTLESS; TIRELESS WORKER, and spends HOURS, DAYS, WEEKS, YEARS RELENTLESSLY WORKING ON HIS SHOT.

It his 3 point shot is going to get, should get better and get a much higher percentage.

Actually you need to do further research and take off the blinders. His offensive numbers are much less than Jaz Kunc. Check out ESPN for stats. And Jaz's stats are against Pac12 opponents.

He is a defensive specialist and will certainly add to the Cougars but your comparisons to NBA players is bizzare to say the least. He will certainly improve under Coach Smith.

Oh you mean the EWU team THAT BEAT UW LAST SEASON AND ALMOST BEAT KANSAS and made the NCAA tourny last season, and 2,3 seasons in a row.

But that wont be happening anymore, since the coach left for Portland, and 3,4 guys have transfered, and EWU moved down a level from D1 basketball.

But the point is EWU had a STRONG schedule, and did well.

And Kim Aiken did VERY WELL against that.

Nice try belittling EWU, and WSU's incoming Kim Aiken's awesome accomplishments

To set the record straight EWU has made the NCAA tourney a total of 3 times in the their history AND NEVER even close to back to back and never under the same coach.
EWU did not beat UW last year simply because they NEVER played!
EWU was 3rd in the Bigsky conference
even though technically tied for 2nd.
EWU was 16-8 last year and had only 1 win outside of the Bigsky and that was against NAIA College OF Idaho! AGAIN 1 WIN OUTSIDE CONFERENCE AND IT WAS A NAIA SCHOOL!
At least try and do some research before you post!

He averaged 6.6 pts and 5.6 rebounds a game vs PAC 12 competition last year in 3 games. If you take out a good game against WSU ( first college game for many of our players) he averaged 3pts and 4.5 Rebs per game.
Against those same 2 teams Oregon and Arizona Jaz averaged 4.6 pts and 7 reb per game and played a third less minutes per game plus shot at a higher percentage!
No one is belittling the player or thinking he isn’t a good addition but reality is a bitch!

1. Excuse me for saying, parroting what I heard, saw other Wazzu Watch poster say EWU beat UW and went to the NCAA back to back. I assumed what I saw, heard was true. But maybe your right that I shouldnt have parroted what they said, what I saw and heard.

2. EWU was good enough to make the NCAA Tourny, and as Observer said "Take Kansas to the BRINK".

3. Yeah the Noncon competition, except Kansas, wasnt good. But Teams like Montana, etc, are better then people think. The big sky is probably one of the best lower, lowest tiered conferences, that can get into NCAA tourny.

4. Even if the competition isnt that good, it still doesnt invalidate the overrall point, primarily because of Arizona.

5. You are LOW BALLING Kim Aiken.

He is NOT a NBA player. He might not even be good enough to play pro ball overseas. He is NOT all world beater. But he is at least, will be, should be, eventually end up better then DJ Rodman, Kunc, or Miller, Arizona, would NOT have wanted him, offered him. He will or should be either a PLATOON STARTER, or #1 back up at the 3 spot, or Arizona, Miller wouldnt have offered him. He is or should scored about 12 ppg at minimum, and about 9,10 rebounds per game by at least the season after this coming season, or Arizona, Miller wouldnt have offered.

Again you are LOW BALLING Kim Aiken.

At the very least Kim Aiken will be somewhere between what you are saying and what I am saying at the very least, or again, Arizona, Miller, wouldnt have offered.

You can stop LOW BALLING Kim Aiken any time now

What I like about Aiken is that he can pull up and hit a mid-range 2. It has been a long time since we've had a 3 or 4 who was a threat to do that, and it puts some stress on the other team's defense...particularly if they want to play zone. At the other end of the floor he is a complete player. Sounds to me like a good addition.

Kunc and Rodman may, might or may, might not be better, because Kim Aiken had 2,3,4 bad games in Pac 12, despite scoring 13.3 points per game, for EWU, and a game high 28 points.

Maybe he just had a few bad games against Pac 12 teams. Even good players can have that happen. But maybe he wasnt good against Pac 12 teams, because he isnt that good NOW(That can change later), time will tell.

I think a better reflection of Kim's play level would be to average his EWU average(13.3 ppg), and his pac 12 average(about 3.3 ppg), together. If did that his ppg average, would be about 7.5 ppg.

Also there is more then just scoring. There is DEFENSE, and REBOUNDING. Kim is a 2 time defensive player of the year. He got 2 steals per game. He also got 2 assist per game.

Also another thing not always measure by stats:

Kim Aiken HAS WAY THE HELL MORE ATHLETICISM then Kunc. Is FASTER, SPEEDIER THEN KUNC, IS LATERALLY QUICKER THEN KUNC, DRAWS MORE CHARGES, BLOCKS MORE SHOTS, JUMPS HIGHER THEN KUNC, ETC.

I GUARANTEE YOU THAT IF ARIZONA HAD A CHOICE BETWEEN AIKEN AND KUNC, ARIZONA WOULD TAKE AIKEN

In fact Arizona could have offered Kunc, when Kunc transfered from Arizona, but didnt, and instead offered Aiken.

WHY?

Because Aiken is better, that's why. And if he isnt better now, he will EVENTUALLY be better.

ITS CALLED UPSIDE.

There is a reason why the NBA has drafted players as the 1st pick of the 1st round of draft, that only scored about 1 ppg, etc, and thats because the player had SUPREME FREAKISH ATHLETICISM, POTENTIAL, even tho they are raw, not as talented as other players, like the KUNC's out there.

Going by what you say, the NBA should draft the KUNC types over the SUPREMELY ATHLETIC, but not as talented type.

But thats not basketball today. Your stuck in the past, how things used to be.

Now Arizona, Duke, UCLA, Kentucky, North Carolina, etc, the NBA, care more about ATHLETIC players like Kim Aiken, that have more ATNLETICISM then Kunc types, OVER Kunc types.

Thats why Arizona, Miller, offered Kim Aiken and didnt offer Kunc.

I'm pretty sure that Arizona, Miller saw Video of Kim Aiken and thought, said: "WOW, Look at how extremely athletic that guy is. Look at how fast he is. Look at his speed, quickness. WOW look at high he can jump. He can jump out of gym. Man that is so good, I have got to get that guy. Man I am gona offer, get that guy."

Now if Arizona, Miller would have seen Kunc's video, that they would have had a similar reaction?

No they wouldnt have. Their reaction would have been:

"Man this guy works, plays hard, hustles, shoots well, but he is slower, less athletic, doesnt jump as high, isnt as strong, etc, as Kim Aiken. I have 1 spot, so I will offer Kim Aiken over Kunc"

Kim Aiken is either better then Kunc now, or if isnt better, he will eventually by next season after this season be better then Kunc.

He Kim Aiken is better, has more UPSIDE, POTENTIAL then the Lodwicks, Kunc's, Ryan Rapps, etc, and as such will either be a PLATOON STARTER, at the 3 spot, something that KUNC wasnt, or a #1 back up at the 3 spot, something that Kunc wasnt.

You really need to get out of the past, stop thinking that the Lodwicks, Kunc's, Ryan Rapp's are better then the Efe's(Who you also thought wasnt going to be good, or as good as the Lodwicks, Kunc's, because he was too raw, only athletic, not as talented as lodwick, Kunc types), Kim Aikens, etc.

You need to realize that the reason why Arizona, Miller, offered Kim Aiken, and didnt offer Kunc, is because they think Kim Aiken is better, because Kim Aiken is better.

You need to stop low balling Kim Aiken.

And low balling Kim Aiken is saying that Kim Aiken is not better then Kunc

So he will score and rebound better in the PAC 12 then he did in the Bigsky ? Hmmm.

You are belittling him with your BS! Let him get to campus and show you what he can do. He is a very capable replacement for Jaz.
I will give you he might be slightly more athletic than Jaz but he is no way freaky athletic he has decent hops decent quickness no where near amazing athletics. He was not the two time Bigsky defensive player of the year and he didn’t average 2 steals agame and he didn’t draw more charges than Jaz and I doubt it was even close. Again I have watched almost every game this kid has played at the college level let him be Aiken and leave the Elliot comparisons where they belong...in the trash!

All the players you don’t like have one thing in common, I’ll let you figure out what it is.

I never compared Efe to Lodwick or Kunc because they are totally different players. I never said Efe wasn’t a good player and going to be an even better player but IMO he has a long long way to go before he is NBA caliber and in reality most don’t ever get there.

We can all have different opinions but we can’t have different facts!
Sorry actual quote is

I am not saying he is a NBA player orvthst he will be as good as those NBA players.

I am saying that he is LIKE, ESQUE. Just because a person is like, esque, a cross, doesnt necessarily mean that they are as good.

I was talking about STYLE, Body Frame, Height, Weight, athletics, strength, game, talent, etc, so as to be able to picture him, how he looks, what style, kind of type of player, etc, NOT that he is a NBA player. He is not a NBA player. He is Not a World Beater. He might not be good enough to play overseas even.

But he is better then Kunc. If you average his stats against Pac 12 teams with his 13.3 ppg EWU stats, the average woukd be about 7.5 ppg, which I think better represents where he is at. And that still is better then Kunc.

Is Kunc either same level or better TALENT then Kim Aiken NOW? YES.

BUT Kim is more athletic, stronger, faster, quicker, speedier, jumps higher, etc, then Kunc.

There is a reason why Arizona, Miller, offered Kim Aiken, and didnt offer Kunc, when Kunc transfered from WSU, and that is that Kim Aiken is probably better then Kunc, and if not better then at least has more athleticism, and a higher UPSIDE, POTENTIAL, which is what NBA drafts, and Duke types like Arizona go after then Kunc types that might probably be more talented, but slower, less athletic.

Also its not all about ppg. Kim was a 1,2 time(s), DEFENSIVE player of the year.

Kim will likely either PLATOON START at the 3 spot, or #1 back up at 3 spot, and get at least 23 minutes per game, and score about 12 to 14 to 16 ppg, by next season after this coming season, seeing as he averaged 13.3 ppg for EWU.

He certainly can improve to that at WSU, and thats why Arizona, Miller offered him.

If he Kim wasnt as good as that, Arizona, Miller wouldnt have offered him.

I dont think thats unrealistic, illogical.

I do think that some are LOW BALLING KIM AIKEN. And LOW BALLING is saying Kim isnt as good as Kunc

But if I am overhyping Kim, and I dont think I am, its not by much, and if I am then Kim would be somewhere between the Low Ballers and myself, at the least, or again, Arizona, Miller wouldnt have offered Kim

I looked up, google searched his stats, that said Kim scored 13.3 ppg, 9.7 rebounds per game, 2 steals per game, and 2 assist per game for EWU, if you have a problem with that, you google search those sources and take that up with them, not me.

And those sources as well as others here, have said that Kim Aiken has won 1,2 Defensive Player of the year, an or if not some other similar type of award for his defense.

Again if you have a problem, then take it up with those sources, or other posters here.

If it will make you feel any better then I will double check google searched sources, and what others said in the other thread, and in the Kim Aiken Twitter Trail.

You might also consider that you might also be misremembering.

Also ok, decent hops doesnt lead to getting a rebound and then dunking, ABSOLUTLY POSTERIZING, dunking OVER THE FACE of the Defender who is trying to block your dunk attempt, stop your dunk, fouling you, etc, like Kim Aiken did.

That takes a LOT of ATHLETICISM, HIGH JUMPING ABILITY to do that.

And oh btw, I didnt pull that out of my but either, as I found that via my google search.

You should try google searching as google searching should be your friend.

I have watched Aiken a few times and I actually think he will fit really well on this team.. I don’t know why anyone would make comparisons to hall of famers and I hate comparisons in general but he seems to be a better version of TJ Bamba in my eyes. He can play a really big role given all of the ball dominant pg’s we have recently inherited. We can have a high powered offensive line up as well as a pretty big and stout defensive line up as well. I love the versatility this gives the coaching staff. On any given night they should be able to match up/ or make the opposing coach match up and dictate how the game is played...

There might be those who dont know what Kim Aiken looks like, etc.

For those and others, my comparison to Dennis Rodman, Sean Elliot, Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, by saying Kim was a Cross of those 4 players combined, put together into 1 player, STYLISTICALLY, height, weight, body frame, what Kim looks like, game, etc, was not meant as a LITERAL comparison, saying that Kim is, will be as good, make NBA, etc.

I dont think Kim will make NBA, be as good as those players. Heck, he might not even be good enough to play overseas.

And I dont think Kim is ALL WORLD BEATER.

But I do think he either is or will, should eventually be better then DJ Rodman, Kunc.

And I do think he is more athletic then DJ Rodman, Kunc.

And I think Kim has more, higher UPSIDE, CEILING, then DJ Rodman, Kunc, even tho Kunc, DJ Rodman, might have a slightly higher FLOOR then Kim Aiken, because of Kim Aikens rawness, and because they might be temporarily more talented then Kim Aiken.

I also think that Kim Aiken will probably either PLATOON START at the 3 spot with DJ Rodman, and or be a #1 back up, and will get at least 24 minutes per game. And that Kim will probably be starter by the end of season, or next season after this coming season. And I think Kim will score at the extreme very least about 11 to 13 to 15 ppg, 9,10 rebounds per game by the end of the next season after this coming season, at the latest.

I think that, because of the videos I have seen, his stats, etc, and because Arizona, Miller, offered him, which they wouldnt have done if he Kim, werent at least that good.

Also if Kunc was better then Kim, then Arizona would have offered Kunc when he transfered from WSU, instead of offering Kim.

I think its not unrealistic, illogical to say that.

I think I have made the case for Kim.

I also agree with what your saying about Kim.
