Newsom interview on ucla leaving (he’s pissed)

Why does there have to be an investigation?

They did it in secret because they knew it was a dirty, sneaky move and that they'd get put back, if not out right prevented, from leaving.

Notice he mentions explicitly Stanford (w/ reference to the UC system).

Why? He's under political heat from the Presidents of those schools. They just lost maybe $15M each (same as WSU).

As I've stated earlier, the optics of bolting the west coast (and hanging Pac-12 out to dry), to chase down midwest media money from Fox, aren't terribly flattering, for one of California's top public (stress taxpayer) school.

It'll be curious how much political grandstanding he does on this. He will sway with whatever direction the polls tell him to sway.

Sounds like Emperor Newsom may twist some arms to maybe Put UCLA back in Pac 12.

As you said Bleed, that's probably why UCLA didn't talk to the regents, etc, because they knew that they probably would be prevented.

If the regents do void the move, make UCLA stay in Pac 12, pass legislation to forbid UCLA leaving in future, etc, that changes everything.

Pac 12 would either Ally with ACC, and Joint media deal first, and then raid the Big 12, or they would grab Oklahoma St, Baylor, TCU, BYU, Texas Tech, to go-to a Pac 16 and then either ally, do joint media deal with ACC, an or Merge with ACC.

I know some to lots wouldn't be keen on BYU, but BYU is Mormon NOTRE DAME, and there would be HOLY WAR rivalry between BYU, and Utah.

Also the Pac 12 needs to ditch their R1 college thing, and no religious college thing if they the Pac 12 want to survive.

And the Pac 12 must expand to 14.

It was the Pac 12 giving Big 12 space, instead of taking big 12 teams, and not expanding to at least a Pac 14, and not voting yes on the expanding playoffs, and the then not negotiating a better media deal, and George's fault, and Scott's fault that in this mess now.

I kept saying the Pac 12 needed to expand to the Pac 14, or risk something like this happening, and I was right.

I think USC would relish the idea if they were the only west coast team in the Big-10. It would stroke their ego. USC would likely get one non-conference game with UCLA every year. They have their annual game with ND. Put in a soft team to get you to 12 games.

Doubt anything comes of this. If some miracle happens and UCLA stays, though, the Pac-12's (and WSU's) prospects are a lot better just losing USC, though. Goes from a potential death blow to more of a gut punch and beatdown that can be survived in a suboptimal but still viable state. You still have the LA market, can hang on to everyone else, and can be much more strategic regarding medium- and longer-term plans.

Meh....All gel, no spine...Governor jelly spine. Thank God I am no longer living in that dumpster fire of a state. Good luck reeling them back in Gov, aren't you late for your tea at the French Laundry. What a slimeball...just ask Alex Tourk.
He was married to Kim Guilfoyle. That's all you really need to know.

She wasn’t when Gavin was married to her. And if my experience with crazy chicks isn’t isolated, she was probably pretty fun for a while at least.
You are correct, she was attractive until she started putting plastic in her grill. You are also correct about crazy chicks, they are fun until they aren't anymore.

What could Newsom do about it? Create unfavorable policies, with stamp of the Regents, that could force their hand. If somehow he "taxes" UCLA's 70+M windfall in a manner that doesn't allow it to all go to UCLA, they could be forced to re-evaluate.

This guy is grandstanding and wants the spotlight for President. If he can pull off the "I saved Cal, Stanford and the Pac-12 from losing UCLA," i personally think he plays that card....

Again, he's trying to get as much of the national spotlight as possible. What better platform than to make UCLA and the conference his political gain.

Why not, after all he had his greasy heels up on Brandon's desk earlier this week while el sniffer was stumbling and bumbling his way through the middle east. Gov Jelly Spine may as well puff his pigeon chest out a bit further.

Word is he's got his re-election in the bag. If he is looking at a democratic nomination, get the western states to give you momentum and their nomination votes.

What is better for is image?

1) Newsom stood idle and let UCLA get to the BIg-10 and hurt our schools?
OR
2) Newsom blocked UCLA from going to the BIg-10 and saved the day?

Door number 3 is the reality- Angry sound bite, but do nothing.

No, Door #3 is a "Made In California" solution.

Announce that UCLA's coach in waiting to replace Chipster will be a "woman".

Walden will then announce CPW's pronoun change within the hour.
Impressive you can segue CPW into almost every thread.
