In life, after you get knocked down, you have two choices, give up, stay down and take the 10 count or you get up, dust yourself and fight on. If the Cougs lay another egg against Rutgers, a team without a secondary, it is over for Leach. He will have lost the team and the fan base. He might be here a couple more years, due to his contract and Moos rubbing his Rosary praying for a miracle, saving both their arses, but he will be just playing out the string.

However, this is an opportunity for Leach and the team to show their metal. A winning effort and wins are contagious. The embarrassment of the Portland State loss, maybe the vehicle for this team to find itself. I was in school for the "we got run over by a moped" loss against Cal. Embarrassed , the 2-7-1Cougs responded the next week, creating one of the greatest moments in school history by beating the #5 team in the country, and keep their Rose Bowl t-shirts in there boxes where they belonged.

We find out today the true character of Mike Leach and this team. I hope it is the game we all remember fondly as the turning point of the Leach era, much like an insignificant game Hawaii was on our greatest run.

Some of the best Cougar games ever have been with our backs against the wall.

I am Cougin' heavy this morning but, I think we win this one.

The team that played the second half against was not the Cougar team that had practiced all fall. You are right, we will see what this team is made of today. That was a mental loss last weekend. I give 100% credit to PSU, but that loss was more on the mental side of the Cougars. Hopefully you are right, that loss was a catalyst to some greater things this year. Believing in yourself can make you play much better than you actually are, we saw it last week and we actually saw the same thing happen when Serena Williams lost to Roberta Vinci. Serena was a 300-1 favorite. Serena, much like the Cougars, got nervous. Vinci made a play, got on a roll and it was over.

If we don't win, I don't want it to be because of mental errors on players or coaches. If they are the better team, so be it. I'm with you in that I think they bring a good game today and have a good chance to win.

We will discover today if coach Leach has lost this team or not. Will they play hard all four quarters. Should they lose but give 100% I can readily accept that and continue to support our coach. I agree, there is a lot on the line for WSU, coach, team,AD and perhaps the future of WSU football depending on the results of the game today.

God, I hope they do well today.

Leach is quirky, thus his teams are quirky. Everything inside of me says that we should lose. So, we'll probably win.

Yes. Agree.

Another similar embarrassing loss we had was when Dick Bennett's team was destroyed vs Oklahoma State 81-29. People may recall that that same team came back a couple weeks after that humiliation and defeated top 10 Arizona in Tucson, which snapped a losing streak that extended back to the early 1980s.

We'll see what our team is made of today.

PS I thought we tied ASU in Tempe instead of beating them? Small detail though.

I admire and enjoy your positive attitude.
However, no matter how a fan spins last weeks loss, it showed a softness about this team that runs deep.
I hope I'm wrong but today I'll be winterizing the pool listening to the game on the radio. It's simply too painful to get my hopes up only to be dashed into ashes once again.
And I hope and pray I'm back on here this afternoon eating a big-ass plate of crow for my pessimistic outlook....
In the meantime...Go Cougs.

Can we just be the "Most Excited to Play" for once?!

I think that part of the manifesto has been falling on deaf ears.

Well kinda off topic, but I think Auburn (#6 in the nation) is about to lose to JACKSONVILLE State. This year is the year for the upsets.

Winterizing the pool?

If you live in Washington it's an El Niño year so you may have some more swimming days left!
