from the cheap seats of the early exit of Mr. "Five pillars"?

These are definitely strange days. Strange days indeed.

Most peculiar, mama.
I simply think that basketball has changed with AAU.. there are a lot of kids in this country who can really play.. Those stars real only mean something for the top 5 and high 4 star kids.. The difference between a 2-3-low 4 star is about how you coach them and build them up... Some of these games are upsets purely because of the schools name..

Of course you can argue that they hadn't played a game or even had a practice in 9 days, or something to that effect. However, I have always thought it was such a weird hire for UVA to bring in a "systems" coach, when they are fully capable of recruiting top talent to compete with anyone in the ACC. When it works, it works, but when it doesn't they look SO DUMB. The system is just so perfect for Wisconsin or WSU, but I just don't get it at UVA, and I'm sure that a lot of Virginia fans don't either....

Well, the system did win the last national championship...

I do think Tony is turning more like Dick as he gets older. At WSU when he had it rocking, those teams put some points on the board and would run when the opportunity presented itself. UVA just walks it up every possession now.

Defensively the system is fine - everything is based on help and recover. Never any ball denial. Even in the era of the three ball, that works ok. It might be time to dust off Dick’s old pressure defense philosophy which forced the ball to one side of the court and then deny ball reversal to force pace.

It is one of those things it is a "who cares" for me. I will say I did root for Ohio for several reasons. A friend of mine went there, and I spent time in Athens in my teens. But I will be honest I don't follow Tony at all.

I can't speak for UVA fans, but I would be more than happy to support the Bennett system if it produced even just one national championship in my lifetime.
