The Pac-12 has been trying to make a deal with DirecTV for years, but that's even more unlikely to happen now, with AT&T deciding that its U-verse cable lineup will no longer carry the Pac-12 Networks. According to the article, about 400,000 – 500,000 subs watch the Pac-12 Networks on U-verse.
.
Just my opinion, but DishNetwork is by far superior over all the competition. Specifically DISH is superior in their innovation, hardware, interface, technology, and support. Hands down. Frankly, they're 5 years ahead of Comcast, (and aways has been). Nobody has a better remote, hardware and interface then the new generation Hopper and Joey. Nobody.

. Yes, I work for DISH. (LOL, not). BTW, DISH owns SLING, for the cord cutters, but you get what you pay for with SLING.

But with Dish...you have to have...uh...an ugly dish!

I get Sling exclusively for football, but it’s worked pretty well the last couple seasons. If I turn on the radio broadcast, I find that the Sling broadcast is behind by about 20-30 seconds (a full play), but the issues I had with Sling hanging and buffering in 2015 are gone.

Yeah I use sling as well. I love it, I do not love the way Larry Scott is doing things.

This was and always has been coming. They've known since last spring that ATT was going to completely remove themselves from the P12. The P12 execs were trying, after saying vehemently that it was all or nothing with the ATT/ P12 deal, to extend the U-verse contract through 2019. Guess ATT figured it was better to cut bait then wait around for Larry Scott et al to figure something out.

Mine looks nice chimney mounted. I would never install a DISH on my siding, roof, soffit, or fence. You buy zinc chimney straps, (online) and fasten your DISH mast to the chimney!
.
Of course if you're in a condo, townhouse, or apartment, you are mostly stuck with cable, because of HOA rules, not to mention drama. :(

Comcast's only competitive advantage was high speed internet to urban/suburban homes - nothing for more rural areas. 5G will change all that. Whoever wins that battle will win the hearts and minds of America.

Sling/Dish will be a nice add-on but unless they are acquired by Verizon or T-Mobile/Sprint, they are going to get left behind.

ATT owns DirecTV and as the world moves more to 5G technology, more and more offerings will be linked to that. AT&T and DirecTV are in alignment in that mode. DirecTV now has a mobile application that is on par with Sling.

Larry Scott is a complete and total dumbass for alienating the 2nd largest wireless provider in the country. We're now on, what, year 6 of no Pac-12 Network on about half of mobile devices/TV's?

Every weekend his "airline" takes off with very few seats filled but thinks he can still charge first class for the back row by the bathroom. That's just dumb.

Yeah, I find it interesting how the P12N board doesn't ask him to resign? He must be a nice guy, (meaning the board likes him), as they might not have the guts to ask for his resignation.
.
Agree with Comcast internet cable. We only use Comcast for their fast cable internet, but always say "no" to their bundling package.

From a user standpoint, I've had both Dish and DirectTV (concurrently at a primary and secondary residence due to topographical issues getting a clear path to respective satellites). There's not much difference.

I didn't like having to travel to the lake to watch Coug games on P12 Network.

First world problems.

Because he just signed an extension through 2022. At $4.8 million per year.

His failure (to date) to repay his $1.8 million relocation loan is where the board should step in. That was almost 10 years ago. It would cover some of the lost revenue from AT&T.

To add to Larry Scott’s ineptitude...

Woodie Dixon’s stupid involvement in a game could cost every single member school 1/3 of a million bucks....each.

That’s because an at large NY6 bowl like the fiesta pays out 4 million bucks.

Essentially an at large birth for the conference is worth 1 free assistant salary to each member school, but the schools may not get it thanks to Larry and Woodie.

#metoo. Comcast in town, DISH at the lake. Comcast carries P12 Net main channel + Washington. DISH has only the main line. But the DISH DVR is far superior. The P12 Net feeds are sometimes atrocious...like a throwback to non-HD times. I watch the Big 10 and SEC feeds also, and the P12 Net is just not competitive. I often wonder what would have happened if the P12 offices stayed in Walnut Creek and turned over the TV operations to ESPN. The net income would certainly not be worse.

Owning the network is a long term play. Whether it was the best decision or not shall be determined.

Oh hell, I would never go back to Comcas vs. Dish or DirectTV. We live in the sticks now and get internet via RFD wireless something or other technology. Comcast sucked weenie.

I'm toying with switching to youtubeTV since they now carry the local channels. Haven't figured out a workaround for HGTV yet though but when I do, it will cut my DirecTV bill by about $120 bucks per month. My wife will kill me if we don't have that channel.

Are the Big10 and SEC channels a non-profit? Serious question.

Here's a part of the issue when you talk about the image quality. Technically, I know the P12N has pushed the limits. What they are doing and how they are doing it is ground breaking. They are pushing ESPN and others to follow them. There are going to be bumps a long that road of trail blazing.

You know, since Larry Scott is reputed to be such a great negotiator, and since he hasn't been able to hammer out a deal with DirectTV, maybe we should replace him with whoever it is at DirectTV that he's been talking to. Obviously that person has him beat.
psh. Private sector is gonna be making more than Larry. Even though Larry is being overpaid!

Comcast at home and Internet only at the lake on my Roku TV. Get some Comcast channels like ESPN via Comcast and got sling for PAC 12 for The September football games (and forgot to cancel of course). Too many damn accounts and passwords.

Xfinity/ Comcast in the Puget Sound. Dish/Fontier at the Lake.
How many lakes are out there.

CDA -south end, short boat ride to Harrison. :)

and unless I can convince the folks three doors down to cut down their damned trees, I’m out of luck on TV again next summer. Dish’s new technilogy moved their satellite and I can’t get line of site.

Observer and Coug95, you are replaying some of my childhood memories.

My aunt & uncle had a place on the east side of CDA lake, just north of Harrison. Loved it. And I grew up in Rockford, where trips to fish the south end of the lake were a highlight. I'm so old I remember when Sun Up Bay was named Mud Bay. We usually caught more squaw fish than trout, but it was fun for a kid.

And Coug95, we had several trips to Eloika when I was small. If I remember correctly, we pulled a lot of pan fish out of that lake.

As Bob Hope used to sing, "thanks for the memories"....
