Whomever is Head Coach or OC next year is gonna have a rebuild on his hands.

78% of the carries is gone
92% of the rushing yards is gone

63% of receptions is gone
63% of receiving yards is gone

80% of the total yards as of today is out the door at seasons end (*Receiving Yds & QB Passing Yds are tied together)

With the Run-&-Shoot giving a bulk of the WR looks to 2 Slot guys and 2 veterans in the backfield. This is a rebuild on offense both in production and hopefully system.

Yep. Don't overlook that Lucas, Ryan and Greene are gone too.

I'm not as worried as some of you. It's college ball, and while we lose a lot of production, we bring back a lot of experienced backups.

JDL & Stribling give us as good of a QB/WR1 combo as their is in the league. Xavier Ward should be a significant upgrade at QB2. Ollie, Bell, Victor, and Hobert are very experienced WRs. Hobert is a kid who I think is going to make a huge splash. RB is a position where it would be helpful to bring in a high quality portal transfer, but Watson and Bazil give us some speed depth. Would be helpful to have a reliable inside runner. The offensive line is pretty deep, actually. Would love to see Green return for his COVID year so we can work Konner Gomness back to a tackle position.

On defense, we need interior linemen and cornerbacks. I love our return rush ends in Stone Jr. and Brennan Jackson. Marquise Freeman (Florida), Raam Stevenson (TX), and Justin Lohrenz (CO) are all highly regarded up and comers. Edge is very stocked position for us. Linebacker is another position that I think we'll plug and play pretty well. Freshaman Francisco Mauigoa is going to be an elite LB for us. Gavin Bartheal (FL) is another freshman who is highly regarded. Was rated the #49 OLB nationally out of high school. Travion Brown returns, and hopefully Ben Wilson returns. Could certainly use some portal help here as well.

All told, I don't see this as a "major" rebuild. We have holes to plug, but QB, WR, and Edge are important positions, and we're pretty solid there.

Your idea and my idea of "very experienced" are vastly different. Bell, yes.... but he's been out a year.

Here are the other 3 WR's Career Catches as of today:

Hobert - 16
Ollie - 18
Victor - 18

Knowing that Harris and Jackson own 63% of the catches so Targets is most likely at least 70-75%, these other WR's are splitting maybe 25% of the targets?? Also, I have huge concerns with the outside WR's that are a 3rd and 4th option in today's Run-&-Shoot.

the O Line is my concern, WR is Ok we have decent depth. need another RB, and we need to find LBs and DBs

I pretty much agree with all of this. The nature of college ball is that there will be gaps to plug every season. The covid year meant that was not true this year, but next season will return to semi-normal; what ever that means now that the transfer portal exists.

We have a good QB. We have receiver depth and someone will come through. We have at least one RB returning who has looked good in minimal action. We have O line depth, though I hope we are only replacing 2 guys. Replacing 3, particularly if one is the center, can lead to some growing pains. Our situation on the D interior line won't be substantially different than it has typically been for the past decade. We are pretty solid at punter. Kicker has been trending the right direction.

We'll miss the class that is leaving, but we'll plug the holes (like every other team in the PAC) and move on.

Maybe this is just my cynicism showing, but I wouldn’t be that surprised if JDL hits the portal. If we bring a completely new staff, I’d be a little surprised if he comes back.

If we have a new staff, you can't assume anyone with options comes back. It'll be a full rebuild. It's the nature of the beast now. This will be helpful if we have a staff that adds a different offense or defense as they can bring in 32 players to fit what they are trying to do instead of the 25 they were limited to before.

I think there are a few realistic options that would definitely keep him here if he is even considering leaving.

I think it’s a bit early for that kind of speculation. Every big time program on the country is 3 deep at QB (except UW). Sure, he can walk but any program he goes to on par with WSU, he’s going to be the backup at best (except UW).

It's not an easy decision to transfer out of a P5 program when you're the definitive QB1. If he's not happy at WSU, then he'll consider transferring, but if we retain Dickert or make a solid hire, I think he'll stick it out.

I don't think he'll transfer, but which P12 programs have better returning QBs than JDL? USC has Dart. Apart from that, I can't name anyone else.

Better, not sure. But you are behind the 8 ball transferring to another P5 program where a couple other kids have already spent time working with the offense. I like JDL, but he’s not so good he’s walking in and becoming the assumed starter at most P5 programs. He’s got a long ways to go.

I don't disagree with that assessment, and on top of that, he would likely be transferring out of a program where he's the starting QB on a bowl team as a Freshman. How often do you see something like that happen?

Sweet fancy Moses! Ollie has 18 grabs???? When did almost all of those happen is all I have to say about that.

"Sweet Fancy Moses"! Classic. Krusty, I don't often hear an exclamation that is 100% new to me. May I plagiarize?

Yeah that would be stupid...but we have seen kids given bad advice before...but my gut tells me that isn't the case here.

Plus I get the feeling he likes being a Coug and is all in.

Cannot take credit. George Costanza uttered that at the party when he saw Elaine dance. He was understandably dumbfounded. Taihtsat
