Oh George

George must be getting mad kickbacks from the vanishing 10.

He doesn't really have any dog in this fight. He's gonna get paid contractually whether there's a conference or he gets sh*t-canned.

Board President Schulz told him not to schedule a meeting and he did. Insubordination. I’m sure they’ll settle but he’s not getting his full contract amount if 2PAC prevail.

This. Let him take himself out of the picture with this kind of stuff. That will not play well in Whitman County court. Or any other court, for that matter. Our NY sharks are smiling at this behavior.
I just saw that part of the complaint was that departing schools wanted to vote on getting their transition costs to new conferences covered by the PAC-12. i assume that was just for starters.SMH.

Yeah, that’s the tactic of the 10. They’re reading the language to say that you’re not allowed to depart before 8-1-24. But to make that interpretation makes the language awkward. The language better fits the interpretation that you can’t announce your departure before 8-1-24 (date of notice being the key). All of them have absolutely announced their departure…and there’s the violation.

Of course there are going to be 10 witnesses who say the intent was to have the departure key, and only 2 who say the notice was key.

How much is it going to suck if we have to get Larry Scott to come to court to say what the intent was?

The guy that called off the targeting against $C in 2018?😳

It may have been copied and pasted from the contract before this one with the dates changed.

I was fairly close to Bill Moos and Entourage raising the flag at the beginning of the game and I remember thinking
here we are in a packed house on the most perfect Palouse fall afternoon at a game that most thought would never take place in a facility many said would never get built by a man who knows exactly what he intended when he got that language inserted into the PAC-12 agreement.

But at the same time Bill Moos didn't have a clue that Larry Scott was a huckster, and the TV deal was so bad it ultimately spelled the end of a 100 year old conference? Please. Bill had a great idea, go out and hire a high profile coach who was being "black balled." One of the best decisions in school history. But, I know Bill to, worked with him, nice guy, very personable, but the sharpest tool in the shed, he isn't. Had he been a true "sage," don't you think he would have tried to take action to secure the long term existence of the Pac-12, rather than the Pac-2, like by opposing Larry's proposed media deal, point out its many conference crippling flaws?

There’s plenty of “smart people” who could have and should have shown Larry Scott the door a long time before they eventually did, but they doubled down.

When you are wrapped up in a political whirlwind it’s harder to escape than it appears. These people are all in it for their own self preservation and don’t want to rock the boat when they have someone in place that they feel extends their political appointment.

In fairness, the media world was a different place when the PAC network was born. I do not fault the league for that decision. The greater issue in my mind was the failure to monitor progress & the changing reality and then sell it or come up with some sort of co-op agreement with an existing media partner 4-5 years later.

I think the point taken more generally is that the bylaws are actually incredibly little guy friendly, this starts with the equal revenue sharing and goes down to the plain language of the notice of departure. For the critical flaw on standing by Scott he at least deserves some credit for this.
