OK, let's get real people. Which cover tune was almost as good (or maybe ) than the original?

Hell yea! Charles covering 'America'. Social Distortion covering 'Ring of Fire'

Just shows what 2 octaves and a cloud of dust can do!

Disturbed.... Sound of Silence

If you haven't heard it before... please listen. You'll be glad you did.
This was going to be my pick. Followed by “All along the watchtower.” Since others took those first…
Hurt - Johnny Cash
Tainted Love - Soft Cell
Dazed & Confused - Zeppelin (kind of cheating because jimmy page brought it from the Yardbirds)
Walk this way - Run DMC (also cheating because Aerosmith was still on it)

Better than the original? No.
But deserves a spot on the list for it's sheer force...

Molly Hatchett's version of "Dreams I'll Never See" is my top choice for a remake. Allman Bros version was good, but Danny Jo Brown has the perfect voice for that song.

I think the best, coolest cover was a town, city in Ukraine, upon finding out that Russian troop were going to attack their city, they had a cover band in town, city play It's My Life from Bon Jovi, and both the band and the town people were singing it, as the whole town everybody in city, sang the song, while working together to set up sand bags and other barricade, fortifications.

And a You Tube Video was made out of it, and shared with Bob Jovi. And Bon Jovi did a concert, and a music video with the You Tube Video cover of his song.

It was truly epic.

I don't know where the video is, or how to post it.

I can probably figure it out, but probably take some time.

Can any of you that have more know how then me post the video?

Jimmy Buffet's Brown Eyed Girl; I've always preferred it to Van Morrison's version.

I like Disturbed's version, but I think the original by S&G is much better. But, I will pick another Paul Simon (and Garfunkel) song. The Bangles "Hazy Shade of Winter".

Had no idea that was a S and G song...yep, excellent cover.

And Suzzana Hoffs was and is sure easy on the eyes. Hard to believe she's now 64!

Hallelujah covered by too many to name. Great story behind the writing which took him years plus initially getting passed to release in the US. Cohen is still the best IMHO, but many prefer the Jeff Buckley or maybe KD Lang version. I believe Dillon was the first to cover it. Cohen's flat out brilliant in my book.

Hoffs is a honey, but I always had a crush on bassist Michael Steele.

The Bangles were in their prime when I was at WSU, and it was the time when MTV actually showed music videos. There were a lot of us who were hot for Ms. Hoffs.

The Rolling Stones cover of Dylan's 'Like a Rolling Stone'
Seager covering Creedence Clearwater's 'Fortunate Son'

Diabetes is a bitch and it took Danny way too young at 53. You watch the Molly Hatchet live videos when he was in his prime and you can see the profuse perspiration, a telltale sign of diabetes.
And you're right...his voice was perfect for that song.

Saw KD Lang in Spokane and she brought the house down with her cover of Hallelujah. I'm a big Cohen fan but it is hard to beat Lang's cover of Hallelujah.
I also vote for Hendricks cover of Dylan's "All along the Watchtower."

Stumbled across this cover of Iron Maiden's "Run to the Hills". Geezus - I'd like to see these gals live, well and see them period. Bunch of hard rocking cuties.

Gotta be honest, outside of Eddie’s guitar work, I never much liked VH.

I know that Joe Dirt and all the VH fans will be offended by this, but I liked them better with Sammy Hagar.
We all like what we like. At least from me, not offended at all. In fact, I think the last couple of albums with DLR before he left the band were horrible. I hated the songs Panama, Jump, etc.

In my opinion, the early VH was the best period. But, the Hagar era was more consistently good throughout. When he joined the band, they were better than the later years of Roth by far.

Agree, Lang's the best of the many covers of Hallelujah IMO as well.

I never liked VH until it became Van Hagar.
