OK, what were you really feeling about the outcome going into OT?

I thought we would win. I felt like we would get a turnover or something because the momentum was on our side. Now it didn't happen until the 2nd OT, and I was a little nervous when Oregon scored first, but once cracraft/lewis combined for that 2nd score I felt like we had it because luck was finally bouncing our way.

Going into OT? Good. WSU scored a quick 10 points in the last four minutes to tie the game. So, I was cautiously optimistic.

I can see why your expectations were positive. Oregon's defense squandered a 10-point lead. They clearly were spent at the end, and the running plays on our first OT possession seemed to have them confused. What a great day for us, right?

I felt like we'd been there too many times in the last few years and come up short. Not confident. Especially when Oregon scored in 2 plays in 1OT. But when Morrow (?) barreled forward for about 15 on first down, that's when I gave us at least a coin toss. And when we got a good throw on our 2OT followed by a half-the-distance-to-the-goal penalty, I started to think we would win.

I couldn't watch the PAT after the TD to tie the game at the end of regulation and both TDs in OT if that tells you anything. The Cal game last year scarred me.

Not great. I still get nervous watching this team kicking extra points, so I feel like that's a slight disadvantage in general. But the run game was huge. They looked like a Leach team- the passing game opened GAPING lanes for the run game, more than any other time since Leach got here.

Yeah I thought this has been huge the last couple of games, and it showed on the stat sheet - 136 yards rushing today despite a handful of bad sacks. Starting to look like early Baylor...

I was debating whether we should go for 2 at the end of regulation and felt Leach was making the right call to kick the extra point. But when Oregon scored in two plays in first OT, I was cussing him out for not going for 2. Ha....that's how stupidly fickle I am in a tense game like this.

Glad Cougar

But isn't it great to be in a situation where we can be stupidly fickle? How far we've come. :)

Be honest.
I agreed with the assistant in Leach's face screaming for 2. But winning the way we did may be better for the psyche of the team. Oh, and winning on a touchdown call that many Duck fans will whine about makes it even sweeter after last year and all the gifts the officials gave the Flying Highlighters earlier in the game. (Incidentally, I think it was a Cracraft touchdown, his hip was on the goal line when he hit the ground and the ball popped up. So shut up, Glenn Parker.)

Going into overtime, I was also thinking Lockie versus Falk. No contest. We all know that with the Cougars, a lot of bad happens. So, nothing is ever a stone cold lock. But, I felt we were in a good place. The pressure was all on Oregon.

That was a whacky play, and a bit of poetic justice after all the blown calls that went Oregon's way all game long (plus the way last year ended).

Well here's how inconsistent I am. I would have been pizzed had he gone for two after regulation (unless, of course, we made it)...but I also didn't feel good about our chances in OT. I guess it was about taking what I thought was the better odds, which was extending the game.

I've seen enough WSU football that I was actually fearing we'd get the PAT blocked. The life of a Wazzu fan...

This is true.

I didn't think it was a guaranteed win. Just that I thought WSU had the better chance at winning the game than Oregon at that point. Just think, from 3:53 left in the fourth quarter, WSU outscored Oregon 24-7
I understand. There are no guaranteed wins with WSU football.

Speaking of Parker & play by play guy Ted Robinson, did anyone else catch what they said in the Cougars' final drive of regulation? Right before the pass to Cracraft inside the 10, and WSU without timeouts, they were talking about the need to pass to the sideline and have the receiver go out of bounds because there might not be enough time to run downfield with the clock running to spike the ball. Did they not realize this was a college game and the clock stops to move the chains on first down? These guys have been broadcasting college games for years now. They should know better.

I don't really care right now though. Still basking.

Again, Glenn Parker is a dolt.

After they scored to make it go to OT, I felt it in my bones that absolutely the cougs would win. It just seemed like it was the Coug's destiny.

During the regular game, there was a period where the Cougs made a lot of mistakes (the fumbles, the drops, falk hanging on to the ball too long), and I had my doubts but I was still pumped that despite all that we were still in reach.

Glad those Oregon fans are bummed. I strongly dislike most of them.

I was pessimistic. But pessimism gets me by being a Coug. I don't know how I'd handle disappointment after all these years. During the Price/Doba years I was optimistic nearly every game (except the Steve Birnbaum years), then had my heart torn out game after game and became a cynic.

I hope Falk can cure me. And wins like this help.

Happy thoughts.

And that we should have gone for two at the end of regulation. If we had a timeout left, I think Leach would have.

I honestly thought we were going to lose, especially after Oregon's easy TD during the first overtime.

I am the same way man. I turned away from the tv during each of our last 3 PAT's (game tying TD and 2 OT TD's).

So nerve racking...

We know what we really have on this team and they put it together. Oregon was getting outplayed and there was no reason WSU couldn't pull this out. All the pressure was on the home team and WSU has a guy at QB nicknamed Cool Hand Luke. They should just start out playing the games as if they're in a two minute drill.

The defense is improving on a weekly basis. Falk had a great game but the defense produced in the clutch. It goes to show how good coaching makes a world of difference.
