So I'm clicking around on TV during commercials, and catch the last 30 seconds of Sportscenter. They are showing popcorn guy and Scott Van Pelt is imploring him and the audience to identify him(self) and to contact Gameday.

Wow. This is starting to become surreal.

Saw this too. I'm anti-Popcorn guy, big time. BUT, surreal is a great word to describe this upcoming Saturday's experience. Insert "It's Happening!" GIF.

Haha!! Just saw that.

I think they may have even slowed down his popcorn eating by a few frames for full effect.

How on earth are you anti popcorn guy? That is one of the funniest things ever.

Perhaps he's neutral on Popcorn Guy but against ever having to recall that horrible game. That was painful. It came at a time when some hope had started to build after the very close loss to Auburn on the road, the then-inexplicable win over USC in the Colosseum, followed by a couple of non-con wins over an FCS team and Idaho. WSU was 3-1 with its only loss by one score at Auburn, following a 2012 that was really awful until the very end. Stanford crushing WSU (literally) in an empty stadium during a monsoon, on national TV, really sucked at the time.

Wasn't this the Halliday tantrum game with 3 straight picks, pretty much eliminating all hopes of a come back?

** no it was not, but for the life of me I can't remember which game that was.

Maybe? I just remember it was against Stanford in Seattle with Cajuste catching long bomb TDs like no one was playing defense.... Probably because we weren't. Also, Halliday got hurt in this game and Apodaca came in and was lights on..... Yeah not good.

I'm not so much into it because it became a meme and in my mind, not the good meme. I thought the idea of it was funny, it was a bad look overall how fall the program had fallen and I think I just never wanted to laugh at how far WSU had fallen.

Popcorn guy was the emphatic nail in the coffin to playing at Avista Stadium. Coug hero right there.

Oregon State, 2013. Tied at the start of the 4th, then Halliday reverts to a spoiled toddler and (literally) throws the game away. I think it was 3 INTs and a fumble in the 4th, Beavs get 28 points off them, and it’s 52-24 at the end.

I never really trusted Halliday again after that.

Not even sure that Popcorn Guy is an alum or Cougar fan. The downpour was incredible and many seats were empty. I vaguely seem to remember that the school gave out a few tickets to some of the homeless folk in downtown Seattle to fill more seats. Dreadful weather and the game was worse.

Well I guess ESPN doesn't want to find him all that bad, when I saw this headline, I knew they weren't serious about finding him

Pullman Police attempting to locate legendary Popcorn Guy

I can’t even remember how or why I went. I was so bored and when I awoke, I had unpopped kernels in my hat.

I agree he may not be a fan or alum, but I'm not sure about randomly handing out tickets to homeless people to fill seats. That's not a great way to endear the few who actually traveled/paid to attend to do so in the future. I think that's a rumor that started because of Popcorn Guy, ironically enough, due to some speculating he was homeless. He doesn't look homeless to me ... just looks like a drunk/tired middle aged-guy who is despondent about the shitshow on the field.

Popcorn guy was wearing Asics running shoes, jeans, a The North Face jacket and a Stihl baseball hat, and had a WSU foam finger thing.

He is/was not a homeless person.
