Wards throw and interception was the key difference

We have to keep the foot on the gas the whole game offensively in this conference. Dickert needs to learn from Leach in this regard.

Safeties were targeted for the big gains. We need Lee to get back.

Unless it's basically the last play of the game from the 50 yard line... the prevent defense sucks big time.

Oregon sure wasn't in a "prevent" when they got the pick 6

Have to agree that it is not luck.

However, some of Oregon's production was aided by the one-sided missed calls.

I don't disagree, but I thought we also benefited from some calls on our late TD drive that put us up by 2 scores. The targeting call was, I guess, a good call as far as the rules go, but I hate that rule. The Duck defender met Ward suddenly during a scramble and they hit helmet to helmet.

I think he lowered his head to create a targeting penalty. Pretty strict rules now to protect players. Which I don't mind personally.

Lucky? No. They were fortunate to escape with a win after falling behind by 2 scores late, but they gained over 600 yards and outgained us by 200+ yards. That's not luck.
Agree it's not luck, and nobody wants to give up 624 yards, but people keep touting the yardage like it's points. I can have an average defense but a ferocious red zone defense and/or takeaway game.

Oregon had 300 yards of offense in the 1H and only had 9 points to show for it because we held them to FGs and picked them off.

The real story here is that Oregon scored ZERO TDs in the 1H and FIVE TDs in the 2H (including the pick). There was just a total defensive breakdown in the 2H, which we still could have gotten away with if we hadn't followed the 2016 Falcons' 2H playbook. If we keep the pedal to the metal on offense or take chances on defense, we win that game.

There is a certain, small measure of luck in the winning coach pooping his pants in the last 6 minutes when you haven't trailed all game.

If you look at the big plays and how much of those yards came from those plays, I tend to think there was some amount of luck (good fortune) that they got. Guys seemed to be out of assignment and Oregon exposed this.

They outplayed us down the stretch, but they also had some good fortune working for them. The Cam INT that sealed it, call it "bad luck" for WSU.

They trucked us. We were lucky to be in that game to begin with. Credit the D for getting stops early in the red zone but 90% of the time that’s a 20 point loss.
It still hurts that we had opportunities to seal it and couldn’t make the plays.

I think that might be going too far as well. It's not fair to say that if Bo Nix hadn't made a terrible pick-6, or if Oregon called different plays at the goal line, they would have trucked us.

Oregon made their calls in the red zone early based on what they do, and we stopped them. Nix made a bad decision because he was being pressured. In all of those cases, we made plays. The Ducks made adjustments in the 2nd half, and we wore down a little bit, but so did they.
