I noticed that Oregon chose to wear black rather than green on St. Patrick's Day. Not a big deal to me, I'm Italian, but it made me chuckle.
They are clueless! When I am finally appointed as Most Exalted King Emperor of Everything, schools will be required to wear ONLY the proper colors of their school, except for trim. A few years ago I was surfing through the PAC channels and came across an OSU/uw women's game, either volleyball or basketball, don't recall which. One team was wearing black uniforms, the other team was wearing turquoise unis. Well, wouldn't you know, uw was wearing the team color of OSU while playing AT OSU! WTF?
Remember the Ducks playing crimson and gray vs Ohio State in the natty and it was the Ducks wearing gray? Lost the game-karma! Believe it was the very next year I walked into Autzen Stadium to see the Ducks wearing gray uniforms to play the Cougs. I turned to my buddies as we stood in the tunnel entrance and said "We got this game-KARMA!". Big underdogs, but the Cougs did pull out a thrilling victory at the end. HAHAHAHAHAHA!
With you on this 100%. Teams wearing black when that is not their color (including Stanford no less) is stupid. The Cougs pulled off a good one adding anthracite gray to their colors. Not black, staying with crimson and gray, but yeah. Was that under Moos?
Wear your colors…if you want to play with variations of your colors fine. If your colors suck ass (sorry…not sorry UW) too bad. Our colors are too good to sell out and wear black.
I like the alternate uniform concept, personally, but more importantly, it hits with the younger generation. Kids don’t care about tradition.
