Beavers are looking REALLY bad. Losing to them will kill any momentum from this past win. Our players need to come out ready to dominate. Its okay to celebrate this great win, but we need to get over it quickly and move forward. I don't want us coming out over confident and getting smacked in the mouth like the PSU game. Great chance to start 4-2.

I think Leach has always maintained the attitude that every game is a must win game. Even in the Oregon post game press conference he mentioned Oregon State so he's already thinking about it. Now whether the young guys take it to heart and do it is something we will have to see, but I expect them to be ready to play and hungry to continue winning. There's a lot of things the team can improve on and if this game teaches them anything...it's that through hard work and never quitting they can beat anybody...anywhere.

No easy games this year. We're not a finished product by any means. The NW rivalry games usually bring out the best in the road team. The Beavs were humbled yesterday, but they're young. I expect them to play well.

I agree that nothing will come easily, especially when the refs refuse to call helmet-to-helmet hits and face mask penalties.

Hey, if Oregon were able to throw, we'd have seen some PI flags.

It was nice to see Oregon get flagged a few times for holding, especially in OT. That No. 73 mauls people every single play, and their wideouts get away with murder. Freeman and Griffin are great backs, but they also benefit from flagrant holds.

Agree. I was getting frustrated at the holds by Oregon not called.

The betting line opened with WSU as an 8pt favorite. That alone should scare any long suffering WSU fan.

No kidding. I'd like to see us come out with energy, passion, and focus on execution and put them behind early and not let up. That would be a great sign that we are growing up as a team.

If your goal is a bowl game, every game is a must win until you reach 6+.

I hope their goals are higher than that.

In watching a few of their games, I've never seen a team hold as often as they do. As I said, the WRs do it nearly every running play. Did I miss the rule change that permits the mauling of DBs?

the only way I can mentally process it is that the officials just assume that the Cougs are physically outmatched and that its not Oregon's fault that our DL can't get separation and make a tackle while the OL is bear hugging them.

You know, the ol' Shaq rule - Shaq can't help it if he's 350 and you're 250, that's why he gets to foul you all the way to the basket.

Except that is no longer the case with our DL.

Known issue regarding Oregon for years. Pac-12 refs letting them get away with it or an issue of not wanting to call it every single down (similar to UW's DBs committing PI on every down over the past few years)?

Did anyone see Helfrich's post game comments? He seemed to complain about how the officials handled the last few seconds in regulation, allowing the Cougars to snap the ball (to spike the ball and stop the clock) before play was ready. He was claiming there should have been a penalty called against the Cougs. So what? Then the 8 yard pass to Dom becomes a 13 yard TD pass to Dom. Can't believe HE was the one whining about officiating. Good lord, between the offensive pass interference not called on a Duck TD, the defensive pass interference not called on Cracraft in the 4th quarter, the face mask penalty not called on the final drive in regulation, and the numerous blatant non-holding calls against the Ducks, he has nothing to complain about.

Helfrich has turned the Ducks from winners to whiners.

Glad Cougar

To no surprise, that was the officials (and Ducks timekeeping) responsible for that, not any doing of the Cougs.

Don't want the officials to step in? Don't have your home clock bleeding seconds in the last minute.

Just a quick followup, I found it amusing that the Ducks thought they had won the game in the first OT when they kept Morrow out of the endzone on a 4th down run, totally unaware that he had gained the necessary yardage for a first down at the 1 yard line. Duck sideline erupted and started to enter the playing field. Perhaps they could have been called for a penalty...but the officials needed to measure for the first down and order was restored.

Talk about a team not having situational awareness...

Glad Cougar

The ducks have been whiners for a long time. They just stopped winning as often recently.

It should have been a penalty. That is automatic. But, while it is called in basketball against the Cougars when playing the Ducks....

Actually, it was the opposite. Shaq continually got fouled and did not get the benefit of the doubt from refs. He was strong enough to play through the rough play directed toward him.

Oregon should have been flagged for the helmet-to-helmet hit that knocked Dom Williams' helmet off.

I live in the EUG, and my wife's family are all Ducks. I love them to bits. They were at the game (I don't go cuz I just can't take the stress) and they said that many around them were talking when OT started how Leach had his players kneeled around him to talk, While Helfrich did jack squat. I'm pretty stoked about this team, there's a hunger there that I haven't seen in a while. The PSU game may be a blessing in disguise.

Leach as un-animated as he seems sometimes is a leader. He did that against Utah when we were 21 down and we won. We're finally getting to a point where we can win and beat anybody anytime. It's going to be a lot more fun here on out.
