I just don't get this. Why don't we just kill all these things that are basically dinosaurs? Same with Australia and their crocs.
Seriously, life's too short to go out like this.Tough way to go
I suppose they probably prey on something that needs to be kept in check. Not sure what that is though.I just don't get this. Why don't we just kill all these things that are basically dinosaurs? Same with Australia and their crocs.
Either that or maybe make sure to strap on your 9mm when you go out walking. The gator might not be so hungry after getting a headache from 2 or 3 rounds deposited in his big, ol' cranium! Why we blaming the crocs.. we move into their habitat and they react naturally. Walking a dog in the alligator infested ponds is teasing them for a meal. I have some empathy for the old lady but at the same time why move there. What’s next go play fetch with the dog in the piranha pond. People need to have common sense.
They’ve been here a lot longer than we have. Sucks, but maybe find one of the dozens of other places to walk your dog that isn’t by the murky swamp?I just don't get this. Why don't we just kill all these things that are basically dinosaurs? Same with Australia and their crocs.
A couple guesses…gators are territorial and there’s a food source? If you move one out another one will just move in.There are services that will remove what they term nuisance gators and put them in a sanctuary with other gators. I am surprised by all of these gators that are in ponds in neighborhoods where people live. I would think there would be some measure in place to thwart the situation.
The common denominator in all of these attacks recently is a dog. Alligators are a lot more docile than crocodiles and tend not to attack just because they are pissed off
that makes centsA couple guesses…gators are territorial and there’s a food source? If you move one out another one will just move in.
Also, in some of these areas there’s A LOT of bodies of water around. The cost of removing them from all of these ponds, lakes doesn’t justify the result, particularly if others will just move in.
I had gator once when I was a kid on a trip to south Florida. I remember it was cooked in three ways, and it tasted like chicken. Was delicious. Side note, something I’ve always wanted to try is snake (rattle snake)? I’ve heard that’s pretty good too, anyone confirm? Would anticipate a chewy meat like a scallop or calamari maybe.Gator is mighty fine eatin'.

I had some gator in Houston in my 20s. I’d say roughly the texture of chicken, and a flavor that is something between chicken and shrimp.I had gator once when I was a kid on a trip to south Florida. Wtf is cooter?! Wait bones? I didn’t think there would be bones I just see dudes stripping the skin off those things figured other than some guts just one big meat tube! You eat the bones when they are canned? So much to learn!Gator: yes, can be done many ways, and all are good if not over-cooked.
Cooter: If you like gator, you will LOVE cooter.
Rattlesnake (now we are getting into the PNW): Long family history with this one. Long story short, I preferred it canned. Then the bones are soft and it is like eating any canned fish from a bones standpoint. Flavor, as with anything you can, depends upon what you use to can it. My memory is that my grandmother favored garlic, salt & pepper. Have not had any in a long time, but used to look forward to it.

Haven’t. Looked it up though, didn’t know eating turtle was a thingNever seen “Naked and Afraid” huh.
Not sure that’s sustainable or cost effective though. There’s a lot of water around a lot of populated areas where gators live. Think how populated and swampy it is in Florida. You remove a gator (very costly I’d imagine) wouldn’t another one just move in?On the gator attack, it seems to me the solution is to have services capture (or kill) these gators that are in populated areas.
Thanks, Sponge. Fortunately I was not drinking coffee when I read this, or it would have been everywhere! What did I stumble upon here...a hillbilly convention with a side of red neck or something?
I can dig it 🍻
So sponge, what is the critter senario down in Costa Rica? Poisonous snakes? Crocodiles? Panthers or other big cats? And can you bring a gun or 2 down there? What did I stumble upon here...a hillbilly convention with a side of red neck or something?
