OT: EA Sports "NCAA Football" is officially dead

Players will get so little, the article jokes that they MIGHT be able to purchase a new XBox… but not the newest NCAA Football game.

So given a choice between passing on chump change, or cashing in on what amounts to walking-around-money, the plaintiffs and their representation decided to kill a 20-year-old franchise that brought decades of joy to millions of athletically marginal college students like myself.

So Johnny Lawyer gets to line his pockets once, which will go straight into a new BMW, which looks good now but which will just look sadly dated in 10-15 years as he cruises Santa Monica as a balding divorcee and tries to pick up off-duty young hostesses. And these athletes will get some walking-around-money, which will go straight into a rack of Coors Light and be gone by the end of the month.

And for that, a game that got young CFB fans excited for 20 years, and is still a hot commodity, has to disappear.

It was only competitive because he would put in Stanback and run the option which was next to impossible to stop.

Lots of last second field goals in that one.

Pretty funny imagining a couple of dudes in their early 30's playing video games, drinking beer,and executing the offense.

To be fair, you'd have probably had a better chance of stopping the option if you weren't patting him on the back between plays every time he ran the ball.

No, I kid- that game was great, and at its best for the 2002 iteration, where they'd just roll through the B games- it was rougher in the Wulff years because you had to play EVERY game in dynasty mode, or get fired after year one.
