Per front office sports, the league’s four highest-paid quarterbacks by average annual value — Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers ($50.3 million), Denver’s Russell Wilson ($48.5 million), Arizona’s Kyler Murray ($46.1 million), and Cleveland’s Deshaun Watson ($46 million) — missed the postseason.

Mahomes and Josh Allen are just $1 million and $3 million behind Watson, respectively. I would guess that once Burrow, Herbert, Hurts, and Lawrence are off their rookie contract, they'll be making that kind of money too. But yeah, those top 4 guys are overpaid although Rodgers and Wilson were given healthy contract extensions while they were dynamic QBs. At least it can be argued they earned that money. Murray and Watson, not so much.

Ultimately, if you decide to spend big on a QB and do not make your next spending priority the OL, you are dumb. You can pull in all the WR's and RB's you want, but without the right OL, that high dollar QB is not going to get you there, most of the time. That may even mean burning your draft choices and check book on OL when your D badly needs an upgrade. But do not spend the bank on a QB and leave him with a mediocre OL. That is a bad, bad decision...which we see made every year.

The Seahawks are trying that experiment out as we speak. Don't overspend on QB - although they'll like pay Geno some number that will likely draw attention - and focus your resources on quality lines.

Or….. you could treat your QB like a college QB. Four years and gone. Trade him for picks or for another player. Stop decimating your roster trying to pay his overpriced salary.

Yeah, I liked their 2 O-tackles in last year's draft. They went from a terrible OL in Wilson's last year, to a solid OL this year that should continue to improve. Lucas was a 1st round caliber pick, and one of the best rookie linemen in the league. Essentially 2 First round starting tackles in one draft is amazing.
