OT: McCaffrey heading back to the Bay

Reports are that the Panthers are shipping him to the 49ers for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th round picks in 2023 and a 5th rounder in 2024.

Seems the Panthers are giving up on the season and playing to pick first. McCaffrey was their leading rusher and their leading receiver, and they traded their #2 receiver a few days ago.

Their roster is shockingly devoid of weapons with him gone.

Williams, Borghi, and any other RB who wasn’t quite good enough should have their agents calling the Panthers right now. They’re heading for a fire sale.

SF is punting the draft. They traded their first round pick to Miami when SF moved up to draft Trey Lance two years ago. He is talented, if he can stay healthy. If not, they gave up a whole lot.

The Panthers are obviously punting the season for the first pick.

Agreed, the Panthers need a QB and they likley are willing to just give up this season and get picks.

I personally don't know if the moves pushed the Niners into the playoffs or is just a move to give them another weapon. Good for Christain though. Allows liked him in college. Never gave up. Hard, fast runner.
