Need to beat Cal on Wednesday, needless to say, wins in the pac-12 tournament don't come easy for the Cougs, so this task is more difficult than it sounds. Overall this has been a good year for the Cougs, could have been better, a winning conference record is a step in the right direction, but a loss to Cal brings it down a notch. Hopefully the last 5 games have put a little confidence back in their shooting. 4-1 in the last 5 games, and their shooting percentages were up in 3 of the 4 wins, as well as rebounding, didn't shoot well in the home win against OSU, or the loss at UW. Part of the reason for the improvement is the ball movement has been better, so hopefully those trends carry forward to the tournament. A win over Cal matches us up with UCLA, maybe we are over due for a win against them. On a good night this team can play with most anyone, and I can't say I have felt that way about Cougar basketball in a while.

While I agree that the offense was better this weekend there were still too many possessions where Flowers dribbles around at 30 ft for 20 seconds before he makes a move to shoot or passes it to someone who fires up a 3 pointer as the shot clock winds down. I'm not advocating necessarily shooting early in the shot clock but actually running through a few sets to see if something opens up might be a nice idea. Having Bamba back has helped as he can go to the hoop to open things up. Noah also had some nice kick out passes on Sat. More of this and less standing around would be a major step forward.

Hmmm....where have I heard this before?

Shooting percentage tends to improve when playing against the last place team with only six scholarship athletes. I tend to be a “win is a win” guy but overtime against OSU didn’t feel good to me. I think we should beat Cal but UCLA is going to be a tough order! Smith does however seem to have a knack for things like that.

We should beat Cal, even if we have to grind it out to the last possession.

Against UCLA, I fervently hope that we hit our first 3 shots, and that at least one is from beyond the arc. That would set the tone.

Fun start
Stanford goes on a 14-1 run to end the game and beat ASU at the buzzer.

Oregon gets by Oregon State. Should be a good game tomorrow. UO vs Colorado
