Part 4 of OregonLive expose

A stop gap measure would be to form an executive committee or finance committee that specifically focuses on the conference’s administrative budget.

Lavish Larry ain’t giving up the the $4.8 million annually, but it might be possible to pry the private jet away.

As a fan, I would like to know why Scott hasn’t paid back the $1.8 relocation loan. The 990 Canzano linked this week indicated it was not in default.

It’s been nine years. Silent Scott can afford to at least pay down the balance.

The Pac-12 championship game should be played at the stadium of one of the two teams playing. The one with the better conference record, with appropriate tie-breakers if they have the same record (ie head-to-head, etc.).

That was the original model I believe but I don’t recall why they shifted away from that or what kind of attendance they had.

“Scott engineered the formation of the Pac-12 Networks. He pushed for deeper relationships with technology companies. And he's positioned the Pac-12 for a potential payday in 2024 when its digital and broadcast rights are available for bid”

1. He’s not some super genius for having a network. Every major conference does
2. What technology companies? If that were true everyone would be able to watch P12 net. As is its the least accessible of all the conference networks.
3. 2024 is a LONG ways off in the business world. And CFB is a business. It’s not gonna matter what happens in 2024 if the conference continues to get its ass kicked by everyone else for the next 6 years.

Larry Scott ain’t worth $10 an hour let alone $4 mill a year. Unreal.

I agree with much of what you are saying, except the technology aspect. P12N has revolutionized the sports industry. Make no mistake. I'm willing to call a spade a spade but that means the negative AND the positive.

ESPN is chasing the technology P12N started. I can't speak too much of the P12N aspect of it (you'll have to trust me on this) but here is what ESPN has done. REMI's are huge. And right now, there is newer technology coming that will again revolutionize production. Cutting edge stuff and P12N is pushing the whole industry. For better or worse.

They stopped hosting it at one team's site when they realized that might mean having a Pac-12 championship game in Pullman.

Plus this way they can pre-schedule everything, know how many seats are available, etc.

It was a way for the PAC 12 to pay for his housing while he keeps the asset in his personal portfolio. He’ll pay it back when he retires, sells the home. Genius on his part if you ask me.

I understand what it was for. I happened during the recession, and was likely covering the loss on the house from wherever he lived before. I want to know why it hasn’t been paid back.

I wouldn’t mind the IRS imputing ordinary income for interest on that $1.8 million to Silent Scott and charging penalties and interest there on.

Loans can be paid back based on terms. It would be interesting to pull up those terms. Was it a 15/30 year loan with 0 interest? What exactly was the agreement?

"I'll pay off the loan when the comet comes back."

I hope Vegas is the ultimate spot. It’s the only true neutral location if you ask me. I’d consider an annual trip there every year if that were to happen. No matter who is playing.
It's really the only somewhat central location to everyone in the conference. The basketball tournament is already there. It would make sense and the bonus of Vegas is it's usually fairly cheap to get to from most locations.

Direct flights from everywhere in the western US and lots of hotels.
