I got a chance to talk to Pat Chun at the women's basketball game on Sunday. He was watching the game with his kids at the very top of the lower bowl keeping a low profile. I apologized for interrupting but told him that I wanted to thank him for doing a good job at WSU. I told him that the jersey retirement ceremony was extremely well done and far exceeded my expectations.
He said that his team worked hard on it and that they are trying to seek opportunities whenever they arise to get fans back into Beasley to remind them of how much fun it is to watch a game in person as opposed to seeing it on TV. He didn't say it out loud, but he knows that the only effective way to separate fans from their cash is to get them invested enough in WSU to come to games on a regular basis. That goes for both football and basketball of course.
