Rich you should stop down to practice and give us a writeup of what you see!

Well?? I just don't get around well enough anymore. If they're practicing in Bohler and there's no parking within my walking distance. If they're practicing in Beasley I'd have to find a way to sneak in which requires even more walking around.

Every time I get back to campus I enjoy seeing the progress. The tradeoff, I miss the ease and access that were possible back in the "old days". Parking close to anything was pretty easy, practices were open, etc.

Reminds me of the days when I was a gym bball rat at Big Bend Community college.

I remember 1 day, when I went to work out, practice shooting, etc, when I went to change into my work out clothing, there was 2 starting Big Bend Community college starters that asked me, while in my jeans, if I wanted to play a pick up game against them.

I had spent 2 years prior to that in Texas, not playing much bball.

I ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED each of the 2 players, then went to change into my work out clothing.

On the way, I could hear Coach Poth(Men's team), and coach Kelly Graves(Women's team, went on to be HC of Gonzaga's Women's team), and assistant coach Dan Fortier, needle them, saying how can you guys get beat by Mike? He has not played college bball on a college bball team, and he didn't play on a highschool bball team. He hasn't played bball for 2 years in Texas. You guys are supposed to be newcomer starters, so you got destroyed, beat by Mike? And he was in jeans, etc?

Coach Poth, and past players tried to get me to walk on to the team, and I even tried walking on, in the past, but decided to quit, when I found out that I would only get 2 minutes of playing time, as a 3 point shooting specialist.

I was also the Viking mascot. So the coaches also told them that they got destroyed by the mascot.

After I destroyed them, in my jeans, coach Poth again tried to convince me to try to walk on, but I told him that 1,2 minutes per game wasn't enough motivation to try to walk on, and that I enjoyed being the mascot too much to give that up.

Sorry. It was a Viking mascot. Should have gotten picture. Big Bend Community College went to the NWAAC playoffs that year.

Forget the year, but it was either the 91-92 season, or the 92-93 season, or the 94-95 season, or 95-96 season

Maybe there is a news picture, or a picture floating around on the Internet somewhere.

That team was so awesome that year.

There was a BBCC NWAAC player I played a pick up game against, and I easily beat him off the dribble, and looked like I was going to get a easy lay up, and as I layed the ball up on, off the backboard, the player swooped in like superman from about 1,2,3,4 feet behind me, and pinned, blocked the ball on backboard, after it just barely by skin of teeth, came off backboard.

So altho it was still goal tending, it was still pretty dam amazing.

And that was a Big Bend Community College, NWAAC player that transfered to a EWU, etc, type, I think.

If that's how extremely athletic that level is, I can only imagine what playing a game against a mid major, P5, PAC 12 player, would have been like.

Of course that wouldn't happen now, as I am too old, suffered a stroke 2 years ago, etc.

Shows just how good the NWAAC, Big Sky, Mid Major, P5, PAC 12 levels are.
