We have lots of discussions about players who get off to a good start concerning how they will do when the competition gets better, or conversely whether a guy struggling is really D- 1 talent.

Over the years it seems to me that it is not that hard to recognize a kid with a lot of upside no matter who they are competing against. Not talking about I could see Flynn was going to be a good one after one game. Going further back the same with Lacy. When Hawkinson went off for about 25 and 15 in his first exhibition game it was obvious he was going to he real good against better competition.

Already mentioned Flynn, but not surprised that Franks and Daniels are having breakout years. Just thought it might happen sooner.

I’ve been wrong plenty of times before, thinking players were going to be better than they turned out to be and not seeing talent when it was looking me in the face but if Franks can continue on his present course he will be one of my all time worse evaluations. For which I’m very happy

I mentioned the guys who turned out. I do much better on guards/ wings than on bigs. However I remember watching Patrick Simon in a ratball game before practice even started. I had concerns right away. He seemed to just disappear out there.

Of the current frosh, I think Chidum is going to be pretty good, and Acquaah too.

Yes the two you mentioned ,i do agree with. One has to give kent credit for finding undervalued and lightly recruited players.

Seems to me that botth Pollard and Chidom have played well enough to earn more playing time but where does it come from? Brick and obviously Franks are playing good so not sure where the minutes would come from. Nice problem to have.

I had my doubts about Flynn when he signed. Saw some preseason and my doubts went down and then game 1 on first look it was obvious he was a player and started to get my thoughts together on my "I was very wrong" post. Ha!

Chidom was intriguing to me from his high school highlights and I had been pretty excited by him. As much as the skill he seems to play with a bit of a chip which I kinda' like. Franks showed flashes but when he missed a few he seemed to go hesitate. What was great to see today after missing a few he was still assertive.

I am going to give it a rest on the other side.
