I think that's what kids prefer now, they don't want to miss their football games. And until we start winning consistently at home, I'd prefer them coming after the season.

Part of it is try and stop decommits/"poaching" things. What happens is you bring a kid to campus...He loves it he commits, Then later someone else invites him on a visit...and he decommits and commits there.

Basically the ole "whoever talks to him last gets him" kind of annoying situation. So instead...we are making sure we are last and that the kids get to get their senior year sorted and we bring them up to campus at the end and there is less of a chance for someone to try and swoop in and poach them.

If WSU continues winning, I wouldn't be surprised to see some our current commitments go elsewhere. We do have two enrolling early at WSU, although technically the FAAs they signed are not binding.

I had heard the biggest reason was that the coaches can't spend as much one on one time with recruits on game weekends since they had so much time dedicated to game prep, etc.

I was reading on the ESPN P12 blog and read that Stanford does not bring in recruits during the year either. So, I guess while it is unusual, another team feels the same way as Coach Leach and his staff.

The policy has it's advantages, but I believe they still trip mid-year JC transfers before the mid-year signing date. You can't expect a guy like Rising to commit without ever enjoying a trip. They take this on their bye-week and this year....there's a strong pool of 10 they're trying to coax.

So what happens when there aren't enough weekends to bring everyone in? Surely you are competing against other schools for these kids.

I don't know exactly how this all works, but I'm sure they thought it through. We have 15 commits as of now. Kids can only have so many official visits...I think it's 3...hold on let me check...oh wow... It's 5. So basically every kid can take 5 official visits. You bring up a big group. Tons commit on the spot at the end of the year...presto class...or something like that... I have no idea really what this new plan is about, but we've had some really great classes as of late, and I'm sure this will probably be another.

I know some High School coaches who have turned almost hostile toward in season recruiting of their players and make it extremely difficult on college coaches to have access.

Seems bizarre, I know, but it's happening on a more frequent basis. One more reason for late visits? not sure.

I agree with Yaki....I too think if we continue to do well, WSU will target some "higher" profile recruits down the stretch.

If the cougs keep winning.that will do a ot of the recruiting for them I guess that they will bring in a group of about 15-20 recruits and hop to sign about 10 of them.
