All seems quiet on the recruiting front. Kent has three scholarships to give and one wonders if there are any takers? It looks like all of the quality jucos and High school players are committed elsewhere.There are several transfer recruits still available. Is Kent considering any or is he recruiting overseas? Ray Kasongo was a possibility but several good programs have recently offerred him and his status is unknown. It would seem that these are the only avenues to recruiting quality players at this late date. One hope he can pull a rabbit or two out of his hat.One would think that he should have not kept his ace recruiter who is a leftover of the Bone era. I wonder if fans are still enamored of the guy whose name escapes me at the moment?At this time it would seem like he needs a couple of his current players to make huge strides if he is to avoid a repeat of last season.

Curtis Allen....if he's the problem, then Ernie is to blame for retaining him and other members of the coaching staff. Personally, I think the lion share of the poor recruiting lies at the feet of the head coach. He has misfired on a number of recruits in 2+ years and 5 of them never made it to a second year at WSU. That's not on Curtis Allen.

From the sound of some of the comments this year Kent wasn't involved enough in the heavy lifting during recruiting. This is definitely not on Allen.
I'm pretty happy with the recruits we have coming in next year. I think we got some holes filled for next year and in the future, I however suspect Kent and staff were at least a little surprised by some of the players who left, mostly Que and Izundu. I'm not sure they were recruiting this class to hard anymore and were working on the next class, "The big Class". Hopefully we can get at least one more serviceable big to take Izundu's minutes because I think Pollard will be solid but is probably a year away for major contributions.
I am somewhat satisfied with the recruits so far. I would like another big and a swing forward who can play defense. I believe that Pollard will contribute to next years team especially on defense and rebounding. If he can contribute 10-15 minutes of hard nosed defense and rebounding next year,the cougs may improve as a team.One would hope that a couple of Kent s recruiting ties overseas may pay off in a quality big man.The recruitment of a quality big man is important as they have lost Izundu and will lose Clifford and Hawkinson next year I think that Clifford will show a huge improvement over last year.
Clifford needs to make a huge jump in conditioning by next year. They are going to need 25+ from him per game. Franks needs to get in better shape as well. They will need 20-25 out of Franks and Pollard next season.
The season after without Hawkinson and Clifford looks pretty light at the moment.
