Roberto Gittens is a 6'5 200 four star SF who will visit ths weekend. Avabob first reported that we may have offered. He is from Tacoma Washington. He committed to Boise State then decommitted a couple of days ago. He had early interest from Oregon,Arizona, udub.WSU, and Minn. The offers had cooled due to early oncourt problems and he was planning to reclassify to 2018.However,now Ed Haskins is involved and he may pay early dividends as a recruiter. This guy has serious athletic ability and won a slam dunk contest. He had 30 pts 16 rbs and 8 blocks in one game.He also played very well after these problems were solved.

Hopefully Haskins, Flynn, Daniels, and Franks can help with getting him to come. He looks like he could use some strength & conditioning but explosive and a lot of upside to get better. We would be fortunate to get him at any time let alone the spring.

He is listed his interest in WSU as "high". I will not be surprised to see him sign with the cougs. Ed Haskins may become the coug s ace recruiter.Gittens , is like most of HS players in that they need conditioning and strength training. However he uses his body effectively in driving to the hoop. This is essential in college basketball which is way more physical then high school basketball.

The south sound connections plus Haskins can't hurt. At least we are getting a visit

I have to chuckle avabob. You sound like a suitor who has been rejected so many times that they still ask but expect to be rejected.Coug fans are used to to seeing other programs getting the four star players and wishing that the cougs will land a few. I saw a quote by Gittins where he said that the coach will be the deciding factor in where he signs. I think that the cougs with Haskins and Kent are in good shape.

You are probably right, but it is as much about not going ballistic if we lose him. I actually think the circumstances and timing favor us in this case. Much less chance another PAC 12 team jumps in at the last minute.

I think that udub has already talked to him as they now have a depleted roster, If he comes it is because of the coaching staff. However ,he does not appear to be on anyone else s radar. If Kent can add another good coach and recruiter,i believe that the cougs will start to get better recruits. He would be a good recruit at this late stage of the game,

I'm with Ava on this one. He's playing for 2 weeks in an AAU tournament to help his stock. The spring signing period is pretty long and you can sign a financial aid package after the signing period. If UW or Oregon offers then who knows. Even if WSU is the better fit we typically lose those battles. Rorie year 1 of Kent comes to mind who signed with Oregon and transferred to Montana.

Glad he's visiting but I'll wait to get excited when LOI comes in.

We will see and recruiting has it s up s and downs. The quality players left are being courted to various degrees . Some are being strung along as the first choices have not made their decisions. A prime example is 6'9 Kenny Wooten,He committed to ASU but then decommitted because of a Oregon offer. Now UCLA just offered. Kwintin Williams another coug target is seemingly being strung along by Oregon They had an assistant coach visit him last week. However their prime target Wooten was visited by the head coach Altman last week. Altman did the same for 6 4 guard Brown,a grad transfer from New Mexico. So i too do not see this as a slam dunk affair. However,i like the coug s chances with Gittins. He was recruited by WSU but did not visit in the early period. Now with Haskins on board,he visits probably after a good conversation between Haskins and his coach. If they do not land him ,they will land some quality players in the near future. Recruiting is a crazy game with many twists and turns

So it sounds like Gittins will take the rest of his visits before deciding. It was not a slam dunk visit but one never knows.
