This guy is a good Coug follow, but admittedly, I don’t know what his connection is to the program or if he’sa reliable source of info. Still, thought I’d share.

It'll be interesting to watch people who wanted him fired on Saturday rush to the "there isn't the money to fire him" camp.

My position hasn't changed. We need to either decide to give this guy 3-4 years risking the possibility it completely tanks the program if things don't work out or cut bait ASAP.

We're not cutting bait ASAP. That's simply not going to happen, especially if this is true and he has indeed met the mandate. He'll be here at least through next season.

If you give him next season, you might as well give him two after to see if it will work. He's not recruiting at a level where another coach can come in and win right away, so might as well see if this run and shoot experiment can be pulled off.

Agree completely. Barring a complete meltdown this season, I expect Rolovich to be our coach if he gets vaccinated. FWIW, for all of the talk about "player's coach", it does sound like the team is on his side and that means something to an AD. It's not the only factor in a decision obviously.

FWIW, I'm still trying to figure out what it means that we've had double digit leads in four out of five losses. The fact that they are losses is bad....but is there any positive spin that can be taken from it?

One thing I've considered is that the coaches have designed schemes to mask our personnel deficiencies on the defensive side of the ball, but opposing coaches eventually figured us out and exploited our weaknesses. We've also had a revolving door at the QB position with a true freshman getting most of the reps.

Unfortunately for Rolo, his first taste of the P12 haven't been cupcakes. Oregon State on the road, Oregon, USC, Utah, Utah State (best start for them since 1978), USC, and now Utah again.

Remember the Covid domino effect on recruiting. How many seniors are going to take advantage of an extra year? The limit is still 85. How many will be available?

Not a chance. See Blanchette vs Price

Getting a coach fired is good for a journalist's brand. See Paul Fineman. And Ryan Blethen trying to get Donnie Marbut sh*t-canned over the BS resume (pretty sure that article got a re-read when Marbut stopped winning and started complaining about $).

Lead dude who started the tweet storm on Brand Y wanted him gone over the Kassidy Woods affair last year. But he wrote a 4 part series in support of Wulff in 2011 and concluded that WSU didn't have the money to fire Wulff.

Jim Moore probably changes his position if Rolo gets a dog.

Furness & Puckett change their position if Furness kid now at Whitworth gets a PWO and if Ryan Leaf gets on the payroll (Puckett upset that a felon drug user wasn't hired to talk to the team)

Dude has to win or provide the hope of winning (if JDL shows marked improvement).

Blowing multi TD leads does have a "glass quarter full" element, so there's that.

Apparently Rolo's mom chimed in and insinuated this was not reliable. The circus continues.

It means the roster is talented enough to hang with other teams, but we are easily outcoached.

As soon as you know your HC isn't the guy you have to move. You cannot allow him to stay any longer. People write about the buyout and not having the money to pay it.... why would you find yourself in that position? Especially when you are taking a guy from maybe $500,000 per year to $3,000,000+??? You have the leverage in the negotiation. If he doesn't want to agree to less favorable buyout terms for him, he can walk. Turd had jack squat for stats under his belt. He is a young coach that hasn't had so much as a cup of coffee at a Power 5 school. And now he has WSU by the bawlz with a buyout??? Good grief. Who negotiated this deal for WSU?? Their future needs to be evaluated too.

Or... WSU does have the money to fire him and just isn't making a move...

I think Chun cans him after the season, if it plays out the way it looks like it will. We can't afford to keep him over the buyout and destroy the program

What the heck was this about?

Thought Ryan Blethen was about as loyal to the Cougs as anyone. Are you talking about Old Man Blethen instead?

How many losses does he watch before he pulls the plug? What happens to recruiting??? As a staff, how do you answer questions from recruits about your HC being there past October? Same bullshit answer he gives the media??? How does that play out??

Recruit: "Hey coach, will the HC be there for my entire career? Or will he be fired in October for not taking the shot?"

Asst coach: "Hell if I know. Will you come play for WSU?"

Recruit: "Hell if I know."

Not exactly a strong pitch.

3 wins or less and he’s going to be in a huge hole for recruiting and fan support (unless he wins the AC).

It was a "meh" hire. I wanted to be wrong. But it's time to cut bait and hire a staff who can make adjustments and succeed on the field, because I cannot see it happening. I don't care if he had a "tough" schedule - WSU needs to look at every game as winnable. Even with all his crazy decisions on the field, when it was rolling I felt a Leach team could win any game. That feeling doesn't exist anymore.

I know I've been in the minority of disliking the leadership of Schulz and Chun, so I'll allow you to ask yourselves this question: do you want Chun hiring another football coach?

...that's a scary thought (to me). You can make other great hires in the other programs (Kyle Smith is EXCELLENT - credit where due there) but two bad football hires is a kiss of death.

WSU football is on some shaky ground, and I don't like the direction it seems to be headed.

Im not impressed with either. They are just guys. There is nothing special about either.

I dont think Chun could have foreseen the circus that is Turd. I will give him a pass for that. However, how many ADs get to hire 3 head football coaches???? If he screws up the next hire it is his turn to be fired.

Rolo is a disaster and needs to go. I have zero faith in his ability to lead WSU’s football team. If he remains the Cougs will fall into the dumpster fire of one of the worst teams in D-I football, again. Following in Wulff’s footsteps.
