Shandon Goldman

Goldman looks like a taller version of Carter Skaggs. They didn't offer him two years ago but evidently saw enough to extend an offer this year. Goldman played in five games as a freshman at Little Rock scoring just two points. Averaging under 10 ppg this year as a JC but a very good 3 point shooter and Ernie loves those.

If they want a JC I'd probably prefer Yannis Mendy who weighs 240 and is averaging 12 pt and 9 rb in 24 min/game. He's from France so maybe more room for improvement Pretty sparse offer sheet though.

Trice may be out of reach with an Illinois offer and he's from Chicago. Possible that Seltzer has some connection with him.

This guy is a lot more athletic than Skaggs. He can drive the hoop jump and dunk the ball during a game.I have not see his statistics shooting from 3 pt land

Shoots 42.7% from 3 and looks like he mostly shoots 3s. Surprisingly 70% from the line. Not sure on this one.

It depends on who else is being considered. As a casual observer,it seems like the ace recruiter is not working hard enough. The cougs just are not being considered by other top juco players. i would like to suggest that they look at 6'8 Shamarkus Kennedy from Chipola College, he is a better player than some of the other jucos they are currently considering. A top recruiter is constantly on the go and does not spend much time at home. It is a very difficult job and some are better than others

Have you considered that good players with viable options simply aren't interested in a program with a head coach who has a 15-46 conference record in 4 years and who hasn't had a winning season at any program for a decade (which includes 5 years not coaching)? Blame also extends to the previous AD who wouldn't invest in the program. It seems to me that focusing on Curtis Allen for the program's failures is like blaming the boatswain of the Titantic while the ship was sinking. He's certainly part of the crew, but isn't the captain.

40% Ernie, 60% Moos.

More on Moos for locking Ernie in long-term and rolling the contract over. Shameful. Just shameful at those dollars.

Then he bitches about people not getting enough 'skin' in the game while writing a miscule check himself to the CAF.

Ditto this.

And correct me if I'm wrong (I saw this on another site), but we graduate one guy this year, then 5 next year? So we bring in Juco's, who will be gone in two years? Then what? Rebuild?

I do admire you guys for even bothering to care. It says something that after our M and W losses last weekend, the were no replies for days to those recaps. Have to look, maybe still no replies.

Another site (hint - not Brand X) has a pretty hilarious running articles(s) which keeps track of EK's excuses for losses.

Oh and in reference to the previous AD. I will always think that we should have taken a shot with Tony's assistant (Ben Johnson?) who had a pipieline to Australia and I believe had been with Dick Bennett for many years. He did stay for a year or two under Bone. Keeping Bennett ball without the Bennetts may not have worked, but after our unprecedented success it was worth a shot. And as for Bone, he didn't look that bad in paper. Heck, he had beaten Gonzaga at least. It was just the Peter Principle for him. (Peter was a Coug BTW).

I don;t agree with you much, but I do here.....

The recruiters have to sell playing time, the University, and the chance to build a program If one takes the very negative, like glad cougar, then yeah the recruiting boat will not be successful. It is all hands on deck to be successful. If the coxswain is not leading the charge and calling out the right cadence on recruiting ,the ship will sit with "oars across " while other teams are pulling hard then it is a lost cause.

Actually, I don't think I'm being "very negative" but extremely objective. We have 4+ years of history now with the Kent regime and I do think what we see is what we get. This is my third post on Beasley Baseline since the season started, an indication of my lack of interest in the basketball program at this moment. However, I do care long term....which I why I feel the only true way to judge this program is starting with the top guy.

Fair enough,i think that EK has to show results the rest of the way into next season.Kent has to bring fans like you back into the fold or he will have lost his"rebuilding job".

Yep very objective and realistic. But it is 100% on Moos as he hired his buddy who lost his last gig. Much like Seattle U wouldn't hire Bone over a fine EWU coach...Moos hired Ernie who was the worst mistake since Paul Graham.

Heh - gotta quiz you on this. Worst mistake since Paul Graham in Basketball? Yeah, I think Dick/Tony Bennett and even Bone rank higher on the scale.

Or worst mistake since Paul Graham in any sport? Heheheheheh. Get ready for 200 replies.

I threw out Hayford at WSU at different points because of the way he recruited to Cheney and I thought their style of play would draw and could work in the Pac 12. They seemed pretty complete. No idea whether he would end up putting something better together in Pullman but it's telling with Bone's experience and ties to the Seattle area that Seattle U. picked Hayford.

Hayford would still be a good fit at WSU.

Branden Renta at LCSC would be another excellent choice.

Neither would break the bank and neither would bolt ala Tony at the first chance.
