She’s beautiful

Here is a wild thought. Charters.

I've noticed over the years, many schools when they are coming to Pullman have a bus or two that travels with the team to and from games.

Why couldn't WSU charter this plane and do something similar for their boosters or anyone who wants to pay the price for this experience.

Umm you mean like Coug Air with Horizon that used to be a thing? Not really sure why that went away.

1. Wonder what it costs to paint that? I know it's not cheap.
2. Beginning next month, there will be direct flights on Delta from Lewiston to Seattle and several other cities....direct....out of Lewiston....beginning in October.

Has to be painted anyway. Not a lot of net added material. Labor to do a car or truck or boat with this much non-std stuff is roughly twice. I'd assume a plane is similar, so that is the biggest net cost add.

at least 3 teeth required to board.

Those were best Horizon days! When the stewardesses would just crack open bottles of PNW wines and give them to us to pass around each other. Double fisting Gewurztraminer (not talking about a German co-ed) because the flight to Pullman was only 45 minutes! I miss the 90's...

80's were better when Crashcade still existed. My last year at WSU, my new pending job sent me from Pullman to Seattle for orientation. OK. My first time ever on an airplane.

So on the way back, if I recall Crashcade had stops in YakiVegas, Tri-shities and maybe Walla Walla on the way to Lewiston then Pullman. So the plane ran out of cash and so the beers were free. I drank 3 or 4 and by the time we hit Lewiston I was about to pee my pants. We weren't supposed to deboard but I explained my dilemma and they let me off to pee. I think I ran a 10 second hundred getting to the bathroom. Made it.

I remember flying Horizon twin props back in the day when they'd serve you a cold Red Hook and the pilot would fly a little closer to the top of Rainier than was probably allowed.

Amen! I remember many a flight where they just said "Do you want the whole thing?" And it wasn't the 12-oz can either! And that was when it was SEA->LEW->PUW, and they'd offer a beer from LEW->PUW too!

That Pullman to Lewiston leg. Is there a shorter flight?

Why is Delta better than American? I'm new to the AA Advantage plan--migrating over from SWA for obvious reasons.
Planes are generally superior. I've always had top service, even if I'm not sitting in premium. Most planes have entertainment systems in the seat.

AA scares me.

GEG connecting through SLC/Minneapolis way better than PHX or DFW. Plus not having to go anywhere near Sea Tac is always a plus.

Delta's customer service/flight attendants are much improved. Alaska used to set the standard but they are getting smoked - a bunch of old timers who are living on their laurels.

SeaTac is the most infuriating airport in the country, IMO.

It's not the airport itself that is infuriating.

The level of inattentiveness and general lack of travel etiquette at that airport is pretty well unrivaled.

Have probably leveled more Laimbeer-like elbows on my-connection-is-more-important-than-yours line jumpers deplaning at SEA than anywhere else in the world.

Oh the airport is big time poo.

What other airport will have their main food areas closed at 6p midweek? Sea-Tac. The worst ride share pick up in the country. Flight delays for zero reason. Glad I don't have to fly through there anymore (or once in a blue moon).

Delta has the best brand of U.S. carriers in my view. Southwest used to, but their cancelled flight fiasco last December really tarnished their brand.

As you say, Alaska is not what they were. Given that their biggest competitor is Delta, they would be wise to up their game. They are still the "home town airline," but most won't simply stick with them if they have another option that is better. Delta does charge a premium price vs other carriers in many cases, though.

I was flying back from DET recently and told the TSA agent there that they should come and give the SEA TSA ("They Stand Around") agents some lessons on efficiency and processing passengers (etiquette as well). It is so much better at DET (and DFW for that matter). She appreciated that.

I wanted so badly to ask to talk to one of the SEA TSA agent's manager a few years back given his very rude behavior. I thought better of it as I'd likely get flagged on future security checks and it would make my life more complex.

One of the basic problems with SEA is that ii is land constrained and despite new terminals and expansion, just cannot handle the passenger throughput needed to be a pleasant experience. A second airport will come someday, but that is years away.

And this is why there is no improvement. I’m not knocking you, just the system. If there’s no reasonable and meaningful way to provide honest criticism, it’ll stay the way it is.

Have never flown them so cannot really comment with authority, but I recall a joke going around back about the 1980's- "Delta Airlines, coming soon to a neighborhood near you". IIRC, they had suffered an accident or two recently, and the gallows humor was around.

Probably not. Horizon (Alaska) doesn't do that hop anymore, but when they did we would take off, get some altitude, and prepare for landing.

Oh and as an aside, not sure where it is but I have a Pic if the old Horizon Coug plane parked next to the plane that shit - the future Secretary of defense Bob Gates flew in on to deliver a commencement speech when my daughter graduated. Pretty cool. Except my ex got almost all of my pics, and won't talk to me because she has to "honor" her new husband. What a bitch.
