Sheesh

Way too many guys who think they are shooters. Bonton. OMG.
Unfortunately it looks like way too many guys don't think they are shooters and leave it all up to one guy. Bonton was the only player to make a FG in the second half. That's not a winning formula. Thank goodness the defense was really good tonight. Abogidi is a good freshman already and has a chance to be a great one before he's done.

It will take some time for the freshmen to collectively contribute. Rich said it: a lot of work to do but a win is a win.

Abogidi is far from polished at this point but the talent is obviously there for big things in the future. Kunc played more assertive. We need the lightbulb to go on for him especially from the outside. Didn't get to see much of the other freshmen but there time will come. I'm hoping to see more Jakimovski soon.

Miller wasn't right at all. We need him healthy and playing bigger minutes.

Ugly game 1 and this year is going to be tough. Better days ahead.

Need to draw up so plays for other shooters and Miller in the post. Scoring was all Bonton only because he does all the shooting. His shot selection, going 1 on 5 with awful turnovers is painful viewing.

All I can say is thanks we have Bonton. Without him we might not have scored 30 points. Sure a lot of injury's with the newcomers.

Far as I can see with a 33 ranked recruiting class we have one player. Not sure why TJ was such an after thought and played so little.

I liked Kunc game a lot better than last year just hanging out for a 3 in the corner. Rapp is a step too slow but I thought he did okay other than shooting.

Clearly they didn't replace CJ and AJ looked like a duck out of water. Hope he improves.

As Bonton goes, this team goes. Doesn’t look like there are a lot of other weapons.
How can you tell? Bonton doesnt spread it around enough to find out. Need to feed the posts alot more and stop tryingvto break down the defense with the dribble. Looked very selfish last night. Instead of trying to get others involved just kept trying to get himself going...

Gotta agree with this.

I believe WSU has a very talented coaching staff. I don't think anything happens on the floor for very long if Smith doesn't want it to happen. So, while you think what Bonton did was selfish, I doubt that Coach Smith agrees.

Bonton is a hero baller. Clearly Smith had him off the leash in the second half yesterday. The bigger issue was the entire offense being unable to find any rhythm. If Bonton or Noah are going to drive to the hole and collapse the D we need a couple shooters who can knock down the wide open three. I think AJ and Rodman could eventually do that.

Coach Smith’s recruits just took down Tony and UVA.

It’s very early to evaluate the team given all of the COVID chaos, coupled with the loss of CJ.

From what I saw, we looked better going big. Abogidi, Markovetskyy, and Kunc could become a formidable front court, but the problem is Bonton doesn’t have the skill set to play that style. Noah played a terrible game, but he’ll get it together.

Gonna have a hard time scoring this season apart from Bonton, and again, his style doesn’t match this lineup. Jakimovsky needs to see the floor because we need his perimeter shot. Rapp doesn’t seem to have developed much, but we’ll give him a couple of more games. Really an abundance of forwards with the same skill set.

Someone has to be a shooter, if you don't have any you're in trouble, which is what it looked like. In the Eastern game a few more guys started dropping shots. Williams looked better, Kunc is getting there, Bamba has potential to drive to the hoop, Efe is going to be great, a few guys hurt, to me Rapp is a disappointment, he is supposed to be a shooter, nothing there. Jakimouski might be the guy that can shoot and drive. After watching the 2nd half last night I have a little more hope for this team, going to be a tough year unless 3-4 guys can start hitting shots consistently. Relying on Bonton to carry this team is not a recipe for success. It will be interesting to watch Smith shape this team, there are some parts their if he can keep them working together. Defense will carry this team and you have to hope you have 2-3 other scores besides Bonton each night.
