Should (or should not) have OU & TX bolt to the $EC?

Competitively, I think it was a mediocre to bad move for the SEC and for both teams.

Financially, its a massive upgrade. The next SEC contract is going to be huge, they now have a majority of the current and historic powers under one banner, as well as a huge national following.

I genuinely wonder what the dynamics will play out like. Texas can't do whatever it wants in the SEC, and the winner of the Red River game won't have an inside track to a playoff game either. Being a big fish in a small pond ain't all bad. But then again, the Big 12 has been dead for years. Where do those schools go? WVU to the ACC? The others to the American after the Big 10 turns them down?

The Sec might regret adding these powers to their conference. Sure they’ll love the $, but watch the bitching start when there aren’t enough teams to beat up on. Vanderbilt will be loved in the conference as the only legit “ W “ in the conference. This move by Tx & OU is ruining CB. I have been a CF addict for years and my mojo for the sport is ever increasingl ebbing away. I used to feel the same way about the NFL & MLB, but $ and free agency changed that and now I don’t even pay attention to them anymore. With the $ grab in CF increasing, I can see me losing interest here too.

Here’s an idea. All power 5 schools pool all the profits nationally, then divide the payout equally between all the schools. Wow. That would hopefully end all the maneuvering and backstabbing for the money grab and end this endless conference realignment. Also, it would create a more level playing field for all the schools. Money is ruining the sport & product.

Right there with you. I used to watch almost everything. July was the only time I wasn't on sports center...the NBA was in off-season, the Stanley cup was over, preseason NFL hadn't started, and July baseball just doesn't matter. But I was all about CFB - I'd flip between morning games, before getting on the road, and track the scores all the way to Pullman. Watch our game live, and get score updates until Sport center (or the George Michael sports machine) signed off.

I gave up the NBA around the time of Jordan's first retirement. Stopped following MLB with the steroid scandals. Quit the NFL when Deion, Keyshawn, and Moss made it pretty clear its a mercenary crew. CFB was all that was left, but its more and more the same as NFL. Less difference between teams/systems, no coach/player allegiance, and an increasing emphasis on cash over customer. I already only casually follow anything outside the Pac-12, and only occasionally watch a game the Cougs aren't playing in.
The new rules have basically created free agency and a wide open market, mercenaries will soon follow. Once that happens, I expect to lose interest completely.

Don’t be silly.
