In case anyone cares, FB season is fast approaching. Mateer had a nice article on Brand X. He's listed as 6'1" and 217, but he look bigger to me. The QB competition will be crucial - but I am all-in on Mateer, feel kinda sorry for Gage Gubrud oops I mean Eckhaus. Didn't agree with bringing a Senior transfer in, hope for his sake he gets some snaps.

Schedule is tougher the more I look at it. the mutts in game 2 will of course be hard, Texas Tech us huge IMHO. Then starting Sept 28 we have BSU, FSU and SDSU in 3 of 4 weeks, all away. We'll come out of that either looking like the cream of the MW or chopped liver.

I think we will surprise everyone, which of course is an every year thing when we are good because we are always projected to suck.

It's a good thing that we have Eckhaus. It's a win win either way. If Mateer win starting job, and does well, then possibility that might have Mateer for another season, and Eckhaus is there in case of injury.

If Mateer wins starting job, and struggles, then Eckhaus can replace him as the starter and do well.

If Eckhaus wins being the starter, he likely will do awesome. But if for some strange reason he were to struggle as starter, Mateer could replace him as the starter, do well. And if Eckhaus were to get injured, Mateer would step in, do well.

It's a win, win with both Mateer, Eckhaus, and because of that, WSU is SET at QB, and will probably have AWESOME QB PLAY NO MATTER WHO STARTS, OR IF THEIR ARE INJURIES TO QB's, etc.

The old saying goes when you have two QBs you have no QBs. I hope after a week or so into fall camp we have a definitive QB1.

Mencke and Birnbaum approve of that message.

Looks like the spambots are thickening....... :(

In the spring game I wasn't sure we had 1 QB. Zevi Eckhaus seemed to have the better accuracy although not a lot of "zip" on his throws. I came away feeling Mateer was still more of a backup/situational guy.

I hope they had a good summer.

Note that the uw is actually game #3, after Portland and Texas Tech. Typo?

No, I just spaced out. Damn dementia. Need to buy some pills off one of those spambot posts. All your trumpers catalogue that admission so you can refer to it for the next 10 years.......

We had some holes to fill after last season and it's hard to say how the season we'll be until we get to see the new guys in action. We'll know what kind of season we are in for by October 1st though. A 4-1 start means a very good season. 2-3 start and it means that we'll be lucky to get to a bowl game. I see an outside shot of a 5-0 shot but that is just July enthusiasm.

For the absolutely nothing that this is worth….i got the new NCAA football25 video game. Eckhaus is the starter by default. Offense skill positions are decent, but he’s got a max of 4 seconds to throw. OL sucks. Defense - in addition to being hard - is terrible. Can’t stop anyone who can throw.
if the folks at EA Sports were correct in their ratings, it could be a long season.
