A pity about the final score but not necessarily surprising. Stanford had most of the play but not by much. The lady Cougs gave a good energetic effort and a well coached one. Stanford is ranked 4th nationally by some and looked it. Will be interesting to see how the ladies do against USC this Sunday. This conference is a tough gauntlet to run in soccer. Not as tough as volleyball but still brutal.
Interestingly, Stanford is a very young team as are the Cougs. Stanford ranked at 4th and the lady Cougs in the low twenties, this is not over yet. We can expect more slugfests between the two over the next few years.
