The dreaded vote of confidence.

Maybe some richie rich is stepping up with big qwuan to pay Ernie off.

Got to believe there's a few Microsofties or Amazonites with that kind of checkbook.

Sounds to me like he is setting the stage to make the move if things don’t change. Obviously he’s been hearing rumblings from people with some clout or he wouldn’t have even brought the subject up.

He may be and Kent has to get some wins in The PAC 12.If Chun does expect an exodus of about 5-6 players and the new coach will face a complete building job.Guys like Elleby,Cannon Kunc, and 2-3 new recruits will be gone.

Is that your guy ROB Chun?

How classy is ROB Chun?

Here's a note, too - if you go winless or pick up 1 or 2 wins, you WANT a mass exodus of players.

As a new coach, you PRAY for a mass exodus of players.

Then if Kent is gone then someone s prayers will be answered.? If that unlikelihood occurs then the fans are in for a delightful 2-3 years in the building process. Pullman"aint" USC or UCLA.Ther is another saying "be careful what you ask for".

Is Ted Bundy going to resurrect as the next Coug basketball coach? Or is Greenwood rising from the dead for a Version 2.0?

Let's take our chances.

Ernie ain't the guy.

Is what's happening now more enjoyable than a delightful 2-3 years in the building process, as you put it?

Coach Kent is and has always been a lightning in a bottle type coach. What I mean is if he can recruit the right combination of guys he’ll be successful every few years. I would be perfectly fine with that but imo he has proven he can’t get that type of player to Pullman. He simply doesn’t have the coaching ability to get more from less.

Our next coach which I think is very likely to come in after this season will need to be patient and take some lumps building our program. Kent trying to get instant fixes every year just doesn’t seem to be working. We need to primarily recruit freshmen who can spend 4 years maturing physically and getting better as players. We need to be the team playing mature juniors and seniors who have been in the program and the league against one and done freshmen and sophomores. Guys like Franks and hopefully Kunc. Of course if you get lucky and grab a diamond in the ruff like Elleby on occasion that’s great but can’t be counted on. Our revolving door of players needs to stop.

Also there is no guarantee Elleby, Cannon or Kunc will stay if Kent stays and no guarantee they will leave if he is fired. Especially Elleby he is way to smart a player not to see the holes in Kent’s coaching.

His up-tempo, run and gun style, is contingent on the right players making plays.

We aren't that level of talent here.

We need a different identity to fit with the players we can attract. Good fundamental, disciplined basketball with defense. AKA Bennett Ball.

Worked then. Can work now.

As for the buy-out: show the numbers! Basketball can be a revenue generating sport. Look at Bennett Ball. We can keep Kent around for a few more years, or we can move in a different direction. There is another Tony Bennett type out their.

The problem with our offense isnt the up tempo, "run and gun" offense. Its our half court offense. It takes tall fast guys to be effective in Bennet ball just as it does in any other system. Look at our record and games when Dick took over. We didn't win until we got Low, Weaver, Cowgill, Baynes, and Rochestie in the system. Those guys could win in a lot of different systems

The problem with our offense is we don’t have one. If we don’t score on a fast break we stand around and wait till somebody goes one on one. The only one of those guys who Kent would have recruited is probably Low. If systems and coaches matter so little then we really are paying them to much. We can’t attract players who can win in a roll out the balls AAU style, that’s the point.
