It does not matter. Rumor is that the UNLV job is his for the asking At about 2 mil per year, that is a healthy incentive, Of course Pitino s name was mentioned there as well

Jason Kidd is rumored for the UNLV job as well but there is also the possibility Kidd ends up a Laker. Odds on favorite in LA is said to be Ty Lue.

I could see Luke Walton giving college a shot somewhere.

Hutson strikes me as exactly the type of guy we could land. Because he missed the NCAA tournament this year, I don't expect him to be a super hot commodity on the market. Nor has he been around long enough to put his name near the top of most major job searches. Might be worth it for him to try to win here, because a 20 win season probably gets him into the NCAA tournament and one of college basketballs premiere jobs. Staying in the Mountain West, he'll be stuck competing against Nevada, UNLV, New Mexico, SDSU, Utah, Colorado St and Boise St annually. All have more advantages than Fresno St.

Hutson staying at Fresno St carries a lot of risk. Finishing outside the top third of the conference will hurt his upward mobility and he's in a much tougher conference than it gets credit for being. Might be a rare case where it's a reasonable risk for a young up and comer to jump to the P12.

He may be a reasonable risk .Of course his team lost by 25 points to Utah State in the MWC Tournament. If not having "more advantages in comparison to other MWC schools. I wonder if he knows how WSU stacks up in advantages to other PAC 12 schools?

I like the idea of hiring a younger "up-and-comer" such as Hutson & Smith. Probably not going to land Smith right now. He's likely to stay at Utah State for at least one more year unless a real good program gives him a shot....but he's been on my list since the beginning of the season. Matta would be akin to landing Dick Bennett again, although he's still relatively young. I'm anxious to see if any coaches from the low seeds in the NCAA tournament will be considered. There are younger coaches doing good things at such schools as North Dakota State and Northern Kentucky, and some may emerge in the NIT as well.

Glad Cougar
