In another thread, there was a discussion of why it should be moved. I’ve now been to the game three times and El Paso once again let me down and provided terrible weather.
That said, the locals support the hell out of the game. 90% of the people at the game yesterday were locals and when you hear the bowl executives talk, it’s important to them. The Sun Bowl is a prime example of why bowl games even exist. As mediocre as El Paso can be, they’ve earned the right to have a bowl game.
They don’t even care that they got moved down the pecking order. They just come out anyway.
So, even though I understand the lack of desire to go to El Paso, it deserves to survive as long as bowl games do
