In another thread, there was a discussion of why it should be moved. I’ve now been to the game three times and El Paso once again let me down and provided terrible weather.

That said, the locals support the hell out of the game. 90% of the people at the game yesterday were locals and when you hear the bowl executives talk, it’s important to them. The Sun Bowl is a prime example of why bowl games even exist. As mediocre as El Paso can be, they’ve earned the right to have a bowl game.

They don’t even care that they got moved down the pecking order. They just come out anyway.

So, even though I understand the lack of desire to go to El Paso, it deserves to survive as long as bowl games do

I agree Flat it’s not an ideal location but find me another city that cares about their bowl game as much as El Paso does about the sun bowl. It’s actually a great trip for the players too the way they roll out the red carpet for the teams. I don’t think it’s going anywhere and as a pac 12 tie in we will certainly will be there again.

When the day comes where they finally move to a 16 or 32 team playoff, hopefully they retain some of the longstanding bowl games as 1st round games. The Sun Bowl is one of the better bowls.
