The first of donors to come pulling their $$$ support of WSU athletics?

For those of you out there that think CF is the MOST important thing in life, to you...... then you are just plain wrong. This from a CF junkie. Many other things have a higher priority. That said, I'll be at every Coug game, in my season paid ticket seats.

And for those that think Leach posting something dumb on Twitter is the worst thing to ever happen, you are just plain wrong too.

Honestly, to be Mike Leach is to be un-controllable. We all knew that when he signed on, and all of us would have happily traded some dumb Tweets to purge our 9-40 record and have a shot at division/conference titles again. To be surprised and/or outraged about this is to have have your cake and eat it too. Only one crank would come to Pullman, we got him, and now we're clutching our pearls because - wait for it - he's a crank? He's the same guy he always was, take him or leave him.

But this is the most fire I've heard from you on Leach - assume this is a disagreement over politics?

Any one that has read my posts know I have supported Leach and recruiting to WSU. He has said a lot of crackpot things in the past and that was okay. It brought attention to his university and some criticism. He has crossed a line this time supporting such a controversial and unpopular president. As a head football coach he is to sell his program and university, not bring things up the other university recruiters can use against him. It was a dumb inexcusable act that continues. He needs to shut up about politics, before he causes any more damage.

If I coached for him and I came across a recruit or his parent that was upset by Leach's politic comments, I would rethink my commitment to him and his commitment to his own program. He should put his program in the most positive light as possible, not to make enemies. He should not support any other politician or party either.

I don't believe anyone has said this "is the worst thing to ever happen." Grasping basic facts isn't a strength of yours. Guess there's a reason you couldn't get into the UW law school and had to settle for Oregon...

Some here don’t like Leach and his public politics and think he should be quiet. How come none of you guys piped up when Kirk Schulz/WSU were promoting legal help for DACA students on his twitter account ?

Earl, it is Leach's use of a fraudulent video that is the issue here. It was dishonest, disingenuous, and deceitful, and I believe WSU deserves better from its most prominent employee. I don't care that he supports Trump. It's the method he's used in this case, and it's akin to the birther controversy that a certain president propagated for half a decade. I expect something fraudulent from a man who on average lies six times a day, but not from Leach, who until now has been a fairly straight shooter.

I watched the video, wasn’t sure it was doctored. My wife and I YouTubed a few more speeches and figured out that it was. At first posting of vid is it possible that Leach was not aware of the doctoring ?

Since 2012, you’ve called out anyone on here who questioned Leach’s judgement about anything. Now, after Twittergate, you want WSU to move on from him because he’s seemingly aligned with Trump.

But hey, that’s just my interpretation.

Earl and that is the problem and why he shouldn’t post anything that might possibly be controversial . Would you be ok if he wa alike Jimmy the Greek and said he doesn’t think blacks have the tools to play qb? Or if George Raveling introduced Malcolm X at a rally? Especially in this day and age where politics is so polarizing best not to enter that arena .

Ya should know. If he had uttered those words....everyone would of known it.

What was the dishonesty and deceit? Explain. I’m serious. What did he lie about?

Not once have I said WSU should "move on from him," assuming this means for WSU to sever ties with Leach. Like DJG, you have some difficulty grasping basic facts. Please don't devalue your WSU degree, assuming you have one.

That did not affect football recruiting.

What was his source? He should guessed?

Devalue my WSU degree? Is that even possible?

Go Dawgs!

Good ****ing grief. Now you can’t support the president... it’s crossing the line! **** you, **** me, let’s just turn this country into a f****ing Socialist North Korea. Good lord people.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not. I hope yes.

If no, then you kinda scare me.....

Our POTUS is a POS. Not supporting him is what at least half the country says, and probably another 20% think (including a bunch of chicken-s#!+ GOP congressional people). His base is the really rich, and the lowest common denominator in this country. Oh, and our Football Head Coach. Geezus Mike.

Agree with you, Earl, and disagree with Yaki. I do not think for a minute that Leach knew that the video was bogus. The guy just seems unaware of the accuracy and truthfulness of the content on the internet. The problem is that he is too damn stubborn to admit that he had been bamboozled. If he had just said "Uh, my bad, never mind." then this whole contratemps would have vaporized. A bit of a chuckle. Leach being Leach. His stubbornness has given his mistake life.

p.s. I don't think that Trump is a liar. I think that he is a bullshitter. A liar knows the truth and attempts to deceive. A bullshitter may not know the truth and doesn't care. He just says whatever comes into his head that he regards as appealing.

Of course half the country doesn’t support the president. He’s polling right around where Obama was polling at this time in his first term. It’s called a 2 party system and there are always winners and losers. It just so happens that the losers this time around, are the most vocal we’ve ever seen. We have now entered a new phase of our politics. A phase that brings out militant, organized, legions of goons..... on both sides of the aisle. They pollute the masses through social media. I’m tired of it.

Oboma was 47.6 approve, 46.9 disapprove on June 22, 2010'. the latest for Trump have him at 46 approve and 52 disapprove.

Thanks, that basically proves my point. The approval rating is what is important as poll questions are different. Many people say they dissaprove in polling situations because of the stigma of support. Hence the reason why the polls were so off after the election...... “I see no path for victory, for Trump”. Lol

I'll agree there's a stigma in openly supporting him, but they don't take names when they do these polls. Maybe after he wins the Nobel...his disapproval rating will go down:)

Funny I am 2,000 miles away, but was able to hear Leach basically say what you just said he did not say in an interview he had with ESPN Seattle radio. Basically he flat said once he was provided proof that the first video was doctored he took it down and replaced it with the full length version. I do not know the hosts up there but there was an obvious liberal leaning one that voiced how pleased he was with the Leach response .

This episode is scary in that it is further proof that people hear what they want to hear and disregard everything else. Really scary stuff.

Interesting thought...but an NFL football player could say they are demonstrating their first amendment right but they are called out for not being patriotic. Sure looks similar to the portrait you paint of Socialist North Korea.

The scary stuff happens at Trump rallies, but you're apparently OK with that.

Host Mike Salk is liberal. Co-host Brock Huard is conservative. Leach did answer, but he (like all people do) tells the story in his most favorable light and lessens his own responsibility.

Yes, people do hear what they want to hear, including Leach. It is why upon seeing the video, he posted it to his own twitter account.

I stand corrected. Mea culpa. Leach's conversation with the ESPN folks is another thing that I was unaware of. One of many. I was aware that he had taken down the first- edited- video and am glad to hear that he retracted the initial posit. Of course, the retraction was less exciting than the posting of the slanted video so it was conveyed less. Thank you for the correction.

Your second comment is spot on. The rapidity of news transmittance today accentuates the nonsense amongst the legitimate content. Some of which is presented mistakenly by dummies like me and some of which falls into the "fake news" category intentionally fostered by the wackos at the ends of the political spectrum.

It is more than just the wackos. It is people with agendas that believe the ends justify's the means.

Good point. Forgot about those. The Russians have a whole building full of hackers/posters in St. Petersburg dedicated to precisely that.

Yes, the Russians were one of the people (among many) with agendas that I was thinking of when I made my post.

I'm genuinely curious how this "Leach should shut up about politics" sentiment divides along party lines. In other words, is it politics or is it the wrong politics? I won't ask for voter registration cards here but I suspect a lot of people who would tolerate any other facet of CML's behavior draw the line at what they're euphemistically calling "politics."

Just to distance myself fashionably, I'm 100% against bringing politics where it doesn't belong: press conferences, college football, school, the workplace, the dinner table, etc. I also vote 3rd party because - like being a Coug fan - I love futility.
